I found this site while trying to troubleshoot a friend's new 2004 Sebring which stalls all the time. Seems the stalling is common, and the tip of the iceberg...LOL.

RED5I had a Sebring before the Kat and it was the same crap.
It had problems that I knew occured on the majority of the cars but they could care less. I cant speak about DC but the few dealerships I have done business with really stink(and thats being nice). I dont know how some of these places stay in business, but they can't be getting that many repeat customers.
Gary ArcherIn DC's defence........I owned a new 1984 Camaro Z/28.
From day one it burned a quart of oil every 1000 miles, they said "normal oil consumption". The 5 speed fell apart after 5000 miles, took 2 months to fix, with no loner the first month. The interior of this car keep falling apart, there fix...put bigger screws to hold it together. The car was a hunk of junk, and a dog also!
I guess my point is, they all have problems. Live and learn!

DR PROWLERWell,I guess to each his own......I can't say one bad thing about Chrysler, everything's been aces!
SuperKatYes they all have some problems. Once had a company S10 Blazer that kept breaking the alternater bracket and leaving me stranded. Each replacement bracket was a slightly different design. The dealer said the problem was common and recommended that I contact GM. I was told that they had never heard of such a thing; I was the only one having a problem.
Never bought a Chevy again. I have always had good luck woth Chrysler products and find that a good competent dealer makes all the difference in the world.

Black Tie 161RED: My friend is ready to ditch her Sebring after only owning it a few months.

Gary: Name ANY reliable domestic car made in 1984! I've owned 5 Camaros, 72, 85, 91-V6, 91-Z28, and a 98Z..all great cars.

Dr. P: All cars have their quirks and faults....I'm sure car manufacturers wouldn't want to consciously put out a dangerous or faulty car on purpose....except for the Pinto. The Ford beancounters figured they would save more money paying wrongful death suits than to put a 25 cent piece on the gas tank to keep it from exploding.

Superkat: I always had the worst luck with Fords and the best with Chebbies. My Chrysler luck is still out with the jury, but it's not looking too good. I think it really depends on personal luck with certain brands....That would explain fanatic brand loyalty.

Of the 2 years I've had my Prowler, I've replaced both shocks, ball joints, hood struts, alternator, and all 4 wheels. Good thing I love this car!

My wife's T-bird is only 2 years old with only 11K miles...we're having the steering rack replaced this week!

GenoTexWhile it is some very heavy literature to read.. we must all admit there is quite a bit of truth there. The ball joint issues we can all recall. For myself, there was also the poor circulating oil.

BUT the fact is.. these are machines... machines have failures... and for me at least DC has stepped up to the plate each and every time and taken care of me.

my 2c

speaking of which... talk about defects... whoever decided that the 'cent' sign didnt need to be on keyboards anyway? (used to be.. in 'typewriter' days)
Like we use 'carats' and 'brackets' every day right?
Let's sue the pants off the keyboard makers, shall we? LOL

Black Tie 161Geno: I'm more fascinated by the vast amounts of personal vendetta this guy has against DC. that was what amazed me by the site I linked....Not that I feel the same way that he does....

BTW: The symbols on the keyboard are only good for cursing (%$#@!)

DR PROWLERThe bottom line is that car do have quirks and yes-the service departments in dealers are kept busy because of them.
To look for perfection in a car is like looking for eternal youth....
It ends up being your tolerance level that makes the difference-and no two people are alike.
In my case it's been great and between my wife and I we've owned close to 50 cars in the 15 years that we've been married.
Judging by some of the responses-doesn't work for all involved.
There is only one car that comes to mind that cost me a fortune and I got rid of it shortly after-a Jag XJ12!

JCProwlerAll cars have some problems, theres no such perfect person. Humans build cars so dont expect them to be prefect all the time.

I heard you were buying one.......pretty mint!

Dave MillsYou can get a lemon in any make car. The question really is whether or not the dealer supports you. In my case I have had very good luck with the dealers I use for both Chrysler Products and Chevys. But Ford....well that is another story!!

ken736ccDear DC,
You know you are doing something right when you can make a customer this enthusiastic about your products. Keep up the good work!
ALLEY CATThere were some eye opening stories in that novel. My brother has the worst luck with Chrysler built cars also. Seems everything goes wrong with his cars as soon as he buys them,,,,and he drives his cars very carefully. He'll bitch about them and states he is not buying another Chrysler built car ever again,,,,then fifteen years later, he'll buy another Chrysler product and the story continues.

At the very bottom of that website, they list my favorite phone number: 1-800-Mike Wallace just kidding,,,

Want oneCars are like woman, sometimes you find a good one, oops hope my wife does'nt see this.
I had big time trouble with my Datsun 280z, yes Datsun for those that remember pre Nissan, trouble with Vettes too.
Chukmar A quick search revealed websites voicing various complaints/bad experiences with GM, Ford, and foreign car manufacturers.

As stated above these are machines and are prone to fail. At work our fleet is mostly comprised of Chevy's i.e. Malibus, Trailblazers, and Impalas. We are required to have them regularly serviced every 3K miles.

My experiences are for the most part - they are very poor quality. Many major problems have occurred at low miles (under 25K) regardless of model type. Seems like every time the cars go back to the dealer we hear the same old story no matter what the defect - "they're known for that!"

It seems logical to me that the more technologically advanced vehicles get, the more parts are required and more prob's are likely to occur!

Just my .02 . . .

obi-wanBecause I was in the service and re-engineering car stuff bus. for most of my life I only consider all cars as something that came off a production line-that's all. Now it's time to get serious with an on going program to make it all better. I've been called in to consult with a no. of marquis like Royal Royce, Meseriti,Corvette(GM)among others, and when showed some of the blunders they all make it's a wonder that any of them work at all. I have really been taken back on a number of occasions when showed the detail of how some car co's have production built things. At times it took everything I had to keep from falling down laughing. Then there are the good things, both in production and aftermarket that are just brilliant-beyond belief. That's what makes it all worth it to me. I consider all cars a collection of about 2700 parts that are trying to figure out how to fail and one of my goals is to see that this is kept to a minimum. So far I've had some luck in making that happened with several marquis in my life and I'm working on the Prowler with that in mind. I've seen all kinds of failures in cars over my life. Many caused by the factory design or poor/no service and others caused by owner lack of knowledge, money or care. While it is somewhat of a crap shoot and luck does play a part of it, the bottom line is, in part governed by the knowledge of the dealer/service shops there integrity, and knowledge as well as the ability of the owner to seek out knowledge of what they want in service and proper parts. EVERY car ever made needs better and heaver duty parts in it all aver the vehicle if a person is to truly make the car a better. Millions of dollars are spent every year by a no. of co's to make this happened-its called the after market industry(a/m)I've sure spent a large amount in this area all my life, both as a customer and a contribution. Just sitting around and complaining about the failures of various cars doesen't't make them any better. Manufactures need to be more intelligent about there designs, and I personally think they are getting better. The cars of today are much better than those of just 10 years ago, but people always want more and more trick stuff. Lets face it todays cars have just about everything in them that can be stuffed into them, but there's always a need for more. This makes sense for the consumer and somewhat of a nightmare for the service dept. of dealerships and private garages. It's very hard to keep up with the changes year to year let alone the changes that come along for each car model. I'm very glad to be out of the service bus. and only doing the things that I'm involved in with this one marque-that's enough for me. Just some insight from my experience, Obi-Wan
CJAll manufacturers have vehicles that have problems. I cannot comment about the website info, as I don't know enough about it. Nor am I saying there may not be some problems.

I can say, however, that I have owned and driven many Chrysler vehicles, including my Prowlers and so has Bob........we have not had any problems with any of them. We will continue purchase and enjoy vehicles from a company who had the vision and the guts to risk building some of the most stylish and outrageous vehicles......... including Prowler!

Black Tie 161I owned a 2000 300M for 2 years with no problems...except a fussy power window that wouldn't go down sometimes. I loved that car....Like a travelling living room!

I love my Prowler, but I am really disgusted with the inferior parts they used in some places. And beleive me when I tell you a Prowler is NOT a welcome sight to a dealership around here. I'm on my own with this car....

ROARINFrom 65 through 77 I owned 7 Chrysler products and the one I had the least problems with, was the first, a 61 Desoto, replete with "push-button" transmission.

Steven R. GaryI guess I'm a very lucky guy, I own 4 cars, prowler, 2x Ford Explorers, GM-Buick. I trade a car about every two years and for the most part believe they all last better than what I hear most people complain about. Maybe I'm not as fussy, or maybe lucky. The only real lemon I've owned is a cutlass surpreme convertable, Leased for three years and the first year went through three radios, two dashes, new top, new struts and motor for the top and after 15 months walkes away from the lease owing nothing and bought a Madza M-Edition, on-&-on. But I agree the dealership can sure make or break how a person looks at there vehicle.
