tz1238Just installed my DekPro Tec decal this weekend. Looks great, no bubbles. The only thing that was difficult was getting the back paper off. Soaking it only loosened it somewhat. Had to slowly pull it off and reposition the decal. This could of been my problem, as I really soaked the car with the soap solution. I might have had on too much.Took a while to get all the bubbles out. Kept checking it every 10 minutes as it was drying and smoothing out some small bubbles. Seemed like every time you thought you had it, another would pop up. Took about an hour to finally get all the bubbles out. Final result is it looks like it was painted on! Came out great. The only thing I did that was different from the instructions was that I might have had more than 1 beer to do the job.I recommend this product to anyone. Thanks Paul.
catfishtz1238-next time use a 1/3-isopropoyl alcohol-2/3 water and you will get a lot less bubbles a whole lot less.let me know if the marks on your w/s came off,and what took them off.the soap causes the bubbles and sometimes its near impossible to get them all out.

RADCAT RICHPICTURES TZ!!!!
Bob MillerTZ - looking forward to a photo of the final product. I have one here, but have not made the time to install it.

Jan - Thanks for the tip on the alcohol versus the soap!

Tom SantellaLooks great. I have a chrome one that I have been afraid to try so far. Thanks everyone for the hints. They say the chome is the most difficult to put on. I have the chrome headrest covers, and I think it will be awesome with the black. I gotta just do it!!

RBADKATTom,
The Chrome is really not that hard to put on.
Just take your time and it will be well worth the effort.
Save the Beer till after your done and then you can see your ear to ear reflection in a job well done.

Jan, I have not tried adding 1/3 isopropyl alchohol and I wouldn't recommend it. The reason these vinyls stick is because the adhesive on the underside of the vinyl is activated by the water/Ivory Liquid solution. The recommended solution is an moderate emulsifier, it's not very aggressive, it reduces surface tension which allows for repositioning the vinyl and does not dilute the adhesive to a degree where adhesion is affected. The alcohol is what you might use to help remove the vinyl from the decklid at some point in the future. Adding the alcohol may weaken the bond and cause premature loosening of the vinyl. Further, the alcohol causes premature evaporation which shortens positioning time and may make it harder to work the bubbles out from underneath the surface before drying. The alcohol will speed up the drying which is not at all helpful. Adding alcohol risks premature failure and a may make installation more difficult.

RADCAT RICHLOOKS NICE, BEEN KICKING THIS AROUND IN MY MIND FOR A WHILE.

JAN '02 PURCHASE OFF OF SHOWRM. FLOOR YES I AM AN INCA-HOLIC, MODS INCLUDE: CARLILI(PROD BY GARY) CHROMED w/BLACK INSERTS FRONT GRILL,PAXTON H.O. SUPER CHARGER,REAL ROD TRANS. COOLER COVER,PROWLER SCRIPT & CAT LOGOETCHED IN SIDE WINDOWS,FRONT(TRIMMED)&REAR MUDFLAPS,PROWLER-PRO GEARS,POLISHED A-ARMS & REAR FRAME,CHROMED TRANSMISSION PAN,TOM MILLS TURN-SIG. RELOCATOR KIT,INCA TRAILER W/3RD BRAKE LIGHT MOD,METALCRAFTERS HARD TOP,OBIWAN T-HANDLE PLENUM BOLT COVERS,CHROME SHIFT KNOB, UPPER &LOWER "ISP" SUSPENSION BRACES,CERAMIC BRAKE PADS,CHANGED OUT LEFT REAR BMPR FOR PLYMOUTH ABD ADDED BUMPER SHIMMERS/GOLD,BORLA CATBACK EXHAUST,MGW hitch plug,CHROME HEADRESTS,

catfish3m recomends isopropyl alcohol for its products.i used to use soap, but quit because of air bubbles,to hard to get rid of them.i have installed about 2000 decals.names,graphics.the alcohol doesnt hurt it at all.doesnt attack the adhesive, still allows you to reposition if needed, and about 95% less bubbles.soap is ok.for lets say a chevy truck z71 decal.larger pieces i wouldnt.tip.after install dont put in sun.leave car in shade at least 24hrs.the guy from auto graphics, who installs dealer graphics,is so good,he uses nothing at all.
i'm not good enough for that and dont want to ruin a good decal.try a "b" pillar blackout tape on a nissan-really toughto do w/no air bubbles.he does it dry.

Bob HackerHey Tim,
The DekPro looks great. Colleen and I got back from Hawaii and while I was in San Jose CA she broke her foot. So now we have 6 weeks to go but if it looks good some Friday night we will meet you in Rolling Meadows.
Bob

tz1238Bob,
Sorry to hear about Colleen. Things like that never happen in the winter when nothing's going on. Well, at least it didn't happen before you guys went to Hawaii. Thank's for the compliment on the DekPro Tec. You were the inspiration for that one. Joni took one look at yours and I ordered it the next day. I love when the wife says "we need one of those". Twist my arm. Got a set of bumpers coming next week to replace the passenger side one. The one on there looks alright but it's driving me crazy. Everything has to be just right. It's the Tool and Die maker in me. Rolling Meadows sounds good. Give me a call when you feel up to it. Weather's always iffy till June around here.

Bob Miller"tz" and Dan - The deck treatment looks very good. I too have chrome one that I have been putting off installing, but I know once it's on it will look great. I was waiting to decide if I was going to get a hardtop and I guess I won't, at least not soon.
