Possum9Took the car out yesterday afternoon and on the way back home a Blk Mustang GT passed by then slowed down, I caught up" we we're doing about 65mph. We both got on it and we we're both nose to nose until about 100mph when he began to pull away some 3'- 4'and we took it down. I felt pretty good
that my stock Prowler would perform like it did against a Mustang GT.
note: (this was on a highway and there was no traffic in our direction) Last week I had a new yellow Ferrari cruise along side for about 4 miles, just cruised, I know better.
ALLEY CATDoesn't it feel great to feel 16 again?

Good point on the Ferrari, lol.

jd2ksilverIf you would have gotten him to slow down to almost nothing before racing you probably would have taken him bad enough to make him quit before you got to 70mph.

Yes it is fun to be 16, 53 whatever age with one of these cars..

maverick1jd2ksilver, I agree. I just sold a 2003 Mustang GT, and I'm sure my cat would have beaten it off the line, and stayed ahead for a while like you said. Love these cats!!!!!!

Just got my Prowler after wanting one for a long time, and I love it. What an awesome car to drive, and quite a head turner!! mods so far...Pulled baffles from exhaust tips, polished stainless tranny cooler, and polished stainless carpet protectors from Real Rod, Chrome headrest covers from Gary, prowler stickers for sun visors.

BeWareDo you have gears. If not , with them you would have probably pulled away from him.

Possum9The car is stock I only added K&M air filter. When I caught up to car it sounded mean and quick, he had the gauges on
the window pillar. When I got into the gas the car had to whined up,like being launched then it accelerated right with the Mustang. I was going to purchase a Viper this spring but opted to put money in business instead. Just turned 10k on car, best car I have ever owned, have enjoyed every mile and memory. Prowler was my cruiser and the Viper would be my muscle car, but the Prowler holds its own in every aspect hands down. I don't need to tell any one here that.
Black Tie 161I'm just turning 10K miles, and I noticed the car has loosened up and seems a great deal quicker. Even compared to initially installing the K&N and BOrla...

I guess ole' Bessie is breaking in...LOL.

Marty UsherActually Rich - I don't know if the gears would be much help starting at highway speeds. It would be interesting to run two basically stock cats - one with gears, one without, and see how they compare starting at various speeds. I know from a standing start and low speeds, the gears will perform better, but I wouldn't be surprized if the stock gears weren't equal or better at highewr speeds.

Anybody done side by side comparison?

jd2ksilver These cars are best at the line, or street light. Quick gears or stock. Tons of fun.
BeWareMarty, Gordon and I ran side by side coming back from the Biltmore. We jumped on it 3 to 5 times. While I did not leave him in the dust, I did pull away from him. Once I when I jumped on it a little after Gordon I had to catch and pass him. Again I did not blow by him but I did pass. The faster we went the more I seemed to pull away. We ran up to about 100 or close to each time. Laddie and Scott were also with us. I ran with Laddie once or twice but he told me later he did not jump on it hard. I pulled away from him faster than I did Gordon. Scott and I did not run each other. I thinks he thought Gordon and I were nuts.

ChromerPossum..that's a great story!

I'm reluctant to jump on my car past 65 or 70??...at that or above those speeds...I just feel like the engine is leaving GUTS on the centerline?

To me... the most fun is FULL OUT...First through Third gear from a dead stop??...

I avoid SLIPPING into OverDrive FULL OUT...

Great Story...thanks for sharing.

Marty Usher"Trolling for Mustangs" is a wonderful weekend pastime!

Dale BeamanI won't mess with a 5.0 above 60 mph but get them off the line everytime - it drives them crazy. The last time I thought the guy was going to blow his motor trying to catch up with me.

Marty, It is especially fun when I am in Louisville on Hursbourne Lane! They seem to hang out there for some reason.
