Therefore a lot of exhausts are 2-1-2 to give it a rich sound or like the new viper with dual side exhausts have "cross-over" pipes to give it a rich sound. My suggestion if you want your Dakota exhaust to sound better see what type of exhausts are on the durango R/T because I know that car has a throaty exhaust. Try to retro fit it to your dakota. ------------------Dakdude Last week I had the opertunity to drive a prowler around. First of all it was a kick in the pants. Absolutly loved it, especially the sound. While I was driving it, a thought occured to me. It's running a V6....my Dakota is running a V6.... so I took a peek underneath to see what looked like a true dual exhaust on it. Now I've always been told with my truck that running true duals kills low end on any V6 engine and makes it sound crappy, yet not so on the prowler. I know there is a bit of difference between the engines were talking here, but exhaust flow rates shouldn't be all that different. What is the stock set up on the Prowler? What size pipes does it run? I'm also assuming it runs through a x-pipe somewhere. CTProwler Do you have Stock exhaust?? Well if you do and love the sound, get a Mopar Borla exhaust! Its around $680 and it has nice kat logos on the tips! Also there is SSS Muffler sold buy Jay the Shimmer man. Both sound better then the stock. Its a very easy job. You might be able to use the stock parts on your dakota. (maybe) spoons Jeff Hunter from Henrick Motors in SC is selling the Mopar Prowler exhaust for $608 (includes S&H) to your door. He sells any mopars parts for 10% above dealer cost.

In my option they should be separated but what ever. Bcoffman Gray Ghost quote:

(maybe)Dakdude I'm trying to get the prowler exhaust sound from my dakota, doesn't have to be a prowler exhaust system. So it's really just a dual in dual out muffler then? Interesting. So the muffler acts as x-pipe then. Anyone know what size pipes are used? Marty Usher pipes are 2 1/4 inch diameter spoons The issue with having two completely sperate exhaust pipes on a V6 each pipe sounds like a 3 cylinder. The 1st Vipers had dual side pipe exhaust and they just don't sound right because you hear 5 cylinders coming from each side.

Problem is you put this set up on a v6 and you lose so much backpressure that you have no low end torque. They also tend to sound pretty ricey. That's why I was wondering about the Prowler exhaust, since it is a dual set up on a v6 which gives good performance and great sound.
