christinaLast month I posted and asked if anyone had problems with their warranty. Well, I went back down to the dealership, explained again that when I bought the Prowler, they said I had a 3 year bumper to bumper, then they told me this year, that it would end a year early. Well, I got mad, explained that I just purchased 2 cars from Chrysler totaling $100,000. Well, I got the call back, and everything is allllllllright! I have one more year. And now I have one more week for all the salt and sand to get off the street, and I will be in my baby again. Keep on Prowlin everyone! I know I will, soon that is...Christina
Possum9Just wanted to ad that when I purchased my 2000, I added the
extended warranty (7 years/70,000 mile)the car had 200 miles
on it. About 2,500 miles I noticed some peeling on the front
wheels, I went to a local dealer they would not cover them,
went back to the dealer I bought the car from, they said they would call Chrysler and advise, well they would not cover then either. Now the car has never seen rain and looks like it did new, so this was an obvious defect that they would not cover, after repeted calls to Chrysler I dropped my other extended coverage on my other vehicals, so know what your getting when dealing with these contracts.
I don't know if its something local here in Indiana, but
the weather was nice for a few days, pulled the Kat out for a ride and dcecided to get the oil changed, I always take rthe car to a Chrysler dealorship for any service but they we're closed, and I went to a franchise oil service, and the manager asked me to follow him to the bay to show me something. On the passenger side rear axle the seal has been leaking and there was oil film around the trans and the cross piece (very visable) the Chrysler dealorship
never said anything about this obvious problem, and when the weather gets better I will take the car in to be repaired. I will see how this goes.
YellowFeverUnfortunately, what is covered and how they treat you is not universal. About a year ago, a couple near me with a new 2001 Orange with only 1500 miles on the OD brought their car in with holes in the roof. They were denied any warranty work. With my 2002 Yellow, I got similar holes at around 200 miles. Initially, the district manager wanted to decline my warranty claim saying I must have put the top down wrong. I've had 4 prowlers and no problem with the top till this one.

The service manager sided with me perhaps because he knew I was right, perhaps because I was looking at a new Viper. They got it fixed.

I told the folks with the Orange one about this place, they brought their vehicle over and then got it repaired.

The service manager told me our district rep tries to deny alot of items that they should warranty. Not sure if it's to save a buck for DC or how much she allows warranty work on but, in either case, it isn't good PR for DC.

Point being, if you don't like the answer at one dealership, move on down the road and try a different one or better yet, a different one in a different town.

Bcoffman Gray GhostMy observences from the dealer side of this issue. I fought with GM for a long time to get some warrantee repairs covered by the factory. And I let my service managers turn down some claims from the customers. Finally, it dawned on me. The smart thing for me to do was, first: help the customer. He is the one that spent his money with me in the first place. Maybe not on totally outragious claims. Then I had my warrantee claims administrater send in claims in small amounts for enough to cover us on what it cost us. The manufacturers expect to pay a percentage out in claims. They know about what it will cost them per car for warrantee claims. I always stayed with-in their percentages. Everyone was happy with that system. The customer got his warrantee with no hassle. The manufacturer paid out what they expected to pay out in claimes. And we got our money for handling the work. Worked for me for a long time. Just one dealer's viewpoint.
ed monahanPossum, I just took the Candy Red in last week and told them I needed a new right rear rim. Since the flaw was on the inside edge of the rim and not visible without putting the car on a lift, they just took my word for it and ordered it. They did not even see the damage and ordered the rim. I got the rim two days later and it is now on the car.
Shop around, you are getting the run around.

I take my Prowlers to Huerring Chrysler in Rennslear. They are a small dealer and the Prowler tech is a gear head, so he takes good care of my Kats. It about a 30 min drive for you and me, but it is worth it.

maverick1The factory chrome wheels on my 2000 Prowler starting peeling last year when the car was almost 3 years old. It had 7800 miles on it, and the local Chrysler dealer here replaced all 4 chrome wheels with no questions asked. F.Y.I. dealer name is Ferman Chrysler/Jeep, in New Port Richey Fl. They also did the ball joint recall.

Possum9Neal, thanks I will try that dealorship. I bought the car from Southlake Dodge and because Center Garage is close, I get my oil changed there.
