CJHave any of you imported your Prowler from the U.S. or did you buy from a Canadian dealer? Need to know what the procedure is for importing......Thanks!!
Northern CatFrank Peri knows everything you need to know..He bought the Blue tie 1 from Florida

His email is frankperi@sympatico.ca

CJThanks, Don!!!
Blue TieI had no problems bringing the Blue Tie across the border. All recalls need to be done on the vehicle before it is allowed across. Also I understand there is a 72 hour impounding of the car to ensure it has not been stolen and is free and clear of leins. I had paperwork to show a clear title and therefore my Kat was not impounded. Good thing because I was not expecting that. The vehicle must not be on the excluded list, which the prowler is not. You must pay the GST and a registration fee of $182 at the border. The whole procedure took me 15 minutes. Once in Canada the vehicle has to meet certain Canadian standards such as daytime running lights. If you go to the website for importing vehicles at www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/rsimp_e.htm you can get more info. Hope this helps.
CJBlueTie.........what did you do about the daytime running lights, the bumper and the speedometer?
Blue TieDaytime running light module added, speedometer no change still in MPH and bumpers had to reinstalled to meet standards.
Wayne Finch...and then take the bumpers off again.

CJ, I've imported a number of vehicles and Frank is correct. It is now very easy - fill in forms, pay tax (just as if you bought it here) and have it safety checked (as we must do anyway). Aftermarket daytime running light modules range from $20-$100 (this beats getting new factory harness and installing for about $500). Speedo's do not have to be changed. Funny thing is they do not make you switch bumpers when importing even though factory standards are tougher (from factory, Canadian bumpers withstand more impact than US I believe).

Where did you get the relay fro the daytime running lights and how much was it
Thanks
Have a nice day Ron
Blue TieDarren our Prowler mechanic extraordinaire did all the work for me. I do not know exactly what the cost was just for the relay.
Wayne FinchMost auto parts places will have a daytime running light module. Your dealer can also source one. Module can be hooked up to turn on parking lights or headlight at various degrees of brightness (Usually 20-40%).

halicatheres some info phoenix....
alniriI bought my prowler in New York in December.
I had the car shipped to Toronto by TFX International. They took care of all the customs paperwork and paid the GST and registration fee. Car was delivered to my front door.
I have driven my car a total of 30ft - from the driveway into the garage.
I am still waiting for the paperwork so that I can complete
the registration process. The paperwork is supposed to be mailed to you within 10 days so that you can complete the registration process within 45 days. I am in no hurry though as the weather has been lousy and I don't want to go out in snow and salt covered roads.
More info about the process at www.riv.ca/
PhoenixJust imported one a couple of weeks ago. It goes easily if you have all paperwork in order. All info at;
(www.customs.gov) US customs
(www.tc.gc.ca) Transport Canada
