Please post any photos I have a little bubbling of paint on the bottom of the driver side door about 3" long 1" high. ------------------ This message has been edited by spoons on 04-29-2003 at 07:45 PM ------------------ PK This message has been edited by PROWLER-KEITH on 04-29-2003 at 05:10 PM This message has been edited by spoons on 04-29-2003 at 07:46 PM I've seen the "crud" on 1997, 1999, and 2000 Prowlers. I've seen it on yellow, purple, and silver cars. I've seen the "crud" on side panels, bottom door edges, and deck lids. So....I believe the problem is obviously not year-specific, color-specific, or location-specific. I also believe it is corrosion under the paint of the aluminum. PS...the DR1 on the pinstriping in the first picture is my version of personalizing my own pinstriping. ------------------spoons Who out there has bubbling paint? It's typically found on the edge of the trunk, hood and door? This should be a recall on our cats because I've seen it on several cats.

"Drive = Love"prowlerFreek im sure the dealers warranty would cover it, i mean chryslers only have one coat of paint on them.. i remember on my pt on the trunk lid in direct sunlight, u could see where the paint was thin and the primer was showing underneath... call the dealer and ask them what you should do

... and a PROWLER VEERRRY SOON!!!spoons Most of the cars I've seen with the bubbled paint are out of warranty. Wil C. Keener Good luck getting it done under warranty! My car is one year old and brought out after winter and found a BLEMISH in the hood . The base coat (pearl orange) turned white under the clear.Have brought to the attention of DC, and have had nothing but GRIEF!!They are still pondering what or what not to do about it.They even said it might have had moisture under the paint and to try a heat gun to see if it would solve this delema. It did not !My body man who works for a Benz Dealer thinks there is a problem with the primer the paint didn't adhere very well.Who Knows? Still waiting to hear from the factory rep.. Just some input on the Paint Warranty we have encountered. KenG Spoons.....I have the same problem on the botton edge of my trunk. Looks like rust developing under the paint but I know that's not possible on aluminum. I showed the spot to Jerry (from Chysler) when I was in Louisville last spring and he just shrugged his shoulders and did not know what would have caused it. I've never persued it past that point. PROWLER-KEITH Boy DC in Canada was just the worst of the worst to deal with as far as a paint issue.. I had some major paint problems with my 99 Red, to long an explanation but short version is I had rock damage and had one of the best Hot Rod shops redo the entire car. 6 weeks later it wrinkeled, for the body men here that is not the proper term used just short version. Bottom line is I had 3 of the best paint men and the top guy from Sikiens who's been to the Caap Plant because they use that paint to do the Vipers, test the paint they all came to the conculsion the "SECOND COAT" that was done from the factory was unstable. DC swore up and down it only had been painted once and blew me off. I didn't except that and they finally came out and looked at my Kat and low and behold they finally admitted it had been painted 2 times before I recieved it from the dealer. But told me Sikiens paint wasn't as good as PPG but when I asked them what paint they used on their Vipers they didn't want to answer that Question at first until I told them they use Sikiens on their Flag ship cars, they we're really we didn't know that.. Yah Right LOL. Bottom line is my painter and his shop crew disassembled and stripped the entire car down to bare aluminum and whatever the other materials used are, and started from scratch it looks 10 times better than when it was new and unless I told you you would never know it had been completely redone, OH yah DC gave me 1500.00 Canadian as a gesture of their goodwill they stressed towards the repaint, mighty big of them I would say. So Spoons and everyone else dealing with your paint issues I wish you better luck than I had with mine, this was a year and a half battle with DC. idive The first year the red cars came out they had a problem with the paint and they stopped painting them red (at least for a while). I got that straight from both DC & local dealers. I couldn't get out of them just what the problem was. spoons KAT 2K Just wanted to give some input on the possibility of the Kats having corrosion. I have worked on aircraft for years and believe me aluminum will corrode just not as fast as sheet metal. In fact most large aircraft over 20 years old are setup on a corrosion program with repeat inspections some time as low as 1 1/2 years. So don't think that just because something is made of aluminum it won't corrode because it will. A lot depends on the environment, and how it is used. I have seen beams corroded beyond repair and replacement being required. As far as corrosion aluminum is a lot better than sheet metal. Dave Ridge

This is picture of the outside of the deck lid.catfish whoever had theirs repainted, did you find corrosion underneath.bubbling paint post should be under technical,or performance appearence.please post in correct section. spoons ^^^ Move Up ^^^ rmatzko I've had bubbling on the trunk and the driver's engine side panel. My dealer repainted those areas prior to going out of warranty. He also gave me a letter of a lifetime warranty to repaint if these areas start bubbling again. My Prowler is a silver 2000 with 10000 Florida/garaged miles.
