------------------ Y2K - looks more like a steal now!!! Did you wear a mask while making the purchase? ------------------ ------------------ I wish we could everyone to step up to the newer 5 mile range radios. It would give us a lot more range for the larger gatherings where we are spread out further than 2 miles on the intertstates. ------------------ ------------------Y2KRedProwler Motorola Model T6200 Talkabout radio at BIG LOTS stores for $17.99...I "think" that is a pretty good price.. ALLEY CAT I don't know about that model,,,,but the one you should buy has the 14 channels "WITH" the 38 sub-channels. Without the sub-channels, you can get caught up in alot of static. The cheaper type are better for like camping or around the house but don't make the grade while on the road with other cars. The better ones are usually only $10 more and well worth it. JMO
Call 911 - there is a Prowler in my garage....
LARRY SALZMAN - MESA, ARIZONARichard Jackson I have that series and paid 79.95. They have all features and sub channels as well. It is just a discontinued model. Y2KRedProwler This model has 14 channels & 38 sub channels...does it look more like a bargain now?????? ALLEY CAT Blue Kat Great Price on a really good radio! ROARIN Got two of them! I've been scrounging around trying to find a charger and rechargeable batteries. That is to say, without spending a fortune!
ROARINMIKE GATLIN Roarin, I have had great luck with regular AA batteries..less stuff to lug around and batteries are always charged when you need them. A set of batteries will more than last a day or two cruisin..next set is in the console not at the hotel when you need them. I would spend the money on an ear bud and clip mic for almost no hand operation. jmo I like having 2 radios in the car so Karen can be involved as well. We'll use the system in Nevada this week. ed monahan I bought a pair of them today just to have extras. You can buy batteries really cheaply at SAM's. Randy Cobb Do most Big Lots have them?
Sounds like a deal to me! My wife paid a lot more than that for a cheap set to use on trade show floors. ed monahan Randy, I only tried one. I happened to remember this thread as I drove by one so I stopped in. They have them at the service counter, not out on display (at least at the one I stopped at). If you can't find any just post that and we can find some for you. That is $ 18 for one radio, not a pair, by the way. skuter I may of found a better deal? Office Max is selling a pair of Motorola T5420 radios, 2-mile range, 14 channels, and 38 subcodes. Regular priced $59.99 - $15.00 instant rebate - $15.00 mail-in rebate = $29.99 final cost. Are these as good as the ones at Big Lots?
2000 WOODWARD EDITION #138
Matching trailer & bra, Chrome shifter, Mopar-Borla exhaust, Chrome Headrests, Red Neon Lights, Stainless tranny cooler cover, Logo valve stem caps, No front bumpers with Tom Mills bumper covers, Removed visors, Ceramic brake pads, Chromed engine parts, Shimmers everywhere, $8 chrome grill, Homemade front braces, & Front/rear mudflaps.skuter Bringing this back to the top. Any response to my information on the post above? Marty Usher Skuter - any of the radios with 14 channels and 38 sub channels will work with other modles and brands. Some people like being able to plug in a headset, others like rechargeable batteries. I prefer to not use the voice activated feature because with the wind noise of top down driving it is always on. Regular AA batteries last longer than rechareables and I just keep extras in the console.
2000 Black with hand painted blue faded to purple flamesSirReal I just bought the Cobra PR 1100 Wx. It has 22 ch & 38 privacy codes and 5 mile range. I'm very pleased with it. It has alot of bells and whistles. One that I think might come in handy is the ability to not only monitor NOAA but can also be programmed to give a tone in the event of an emergency all hazards alert. That covers weather, chemical and other civilian emergencies. Plus a clock, compass, stopwatch etc. skuter Office Max also has a set (2) of Cobra Microtalk GMRS 2-Way Radios. 5-mile range, 22 channels, & 38 subcodes. Regular priced $89.99 - $20.00 instant rebate - $20.00 mail-in rebate = $49.99 final price.
