CJI thought it might be interesting for everyone to see some pictures that I have showcasing the Plymouth Prowler concept vehicle. The first group were from a display that Chrysler had at the Detroit Autorama in 1996. The second group are photos of the Plymouth Prowler Roadshow which was built and managed by a motorsports company. I worked for this company for five years and the Plymouth Prowler Roadshow program was my responsibility. Hope you enjoy the photos!

PaulI have a publicity shot of that concept car shot with mountains in the background blown up to about 4' x 2.5' on the wall next to my desk. It represents the best piece of metal "art" I've ever seen.
CJYes, Dan.........I took all the pictures and I just added a few more that I found!

Al........that was about $40,000 worth of graphics on the truck and trailer! It was the same on both sides of the trailer. The awning was about $15,000.

Steven R. GaryThanks CJ for the photo's and also for all the hard work you do for us Prowler owners. Your energy makes me tired just thinking if it. My only question is, since you took the photo's yourself how do you get in the one folding the posters. I knew you were fast, but NOW I'm amazed.. LOL

I also liked the original flush headlight design better. Anyone notice the rear bumper backup lights used clear lenses? Glad they changed the wheel appearance from that inside "ribbed" look to smooth,,,ick.

CJ - is the tent for sale?

PROWLER-KEITHCJ great pics you must have been run off your feet on this touring job "BUT" very happy to work with this fine machine. All the material you got to see on the car posters and other stuff must have been unreal. The rear tires on the first set of pictures look much widder than ours?? Where these the cars they crushed after? Thks for a chance to go back to the beginning again

CJOkay, Steve.............so Bob managed a "sneak a picture when she wasn't looking" photo! The rest of the ones at the Autorama, I took. The ones of the roadshow I took, as that program was my responsibility. We always took photos at the venues we attended.

Gordon........as I mentioned above, the program was my responsibility and it was part of my job to provide pictures of the venues that I was able to attend. Otherwise, my driver/manager took photos. We collected them and put them in a photo book so that we could give them to our Chrysler clients. Sort of "this is what we are doing with the rig and the response you are getting for your money" presentation. When I took pictures, I had two sets made and I was able to keep some of the photos. I did not keep the negatives.......they belonged to the company and my guess is, when the program ended, they did not keep much of this stuff. All the brochures, etc. we handed out and the merchandise we sold at the rig was returned to Chrysler.

I just added some other photos to the scrapbook. They aren't great, as scanning photos are harder to make clear than from digital photos. One of the photos was of Fred Warren. For those of you who don't know who Fred is, he is a custom car builder who has won multiple AMBR awards (America's Most Beautiful Roadster) and a Ridler award. He owns many really great roadsters, including the Smoothster by Boyd and Shock Wave, which won the 1999 AMBR award. Fred is a good friend of ours and when he saw the photo I took of him in the Prowler he liked it so much that Bob and I had it enlarged and framed and we had it signed for him by Tom Gale. Last I heard, it hangs above his mantel at home!

PK........The autorama display was Chrysler's and since Bob was on the Prowler Team for a while, we helped work the shows. I did it for the fun of it and a chance to be with the Prowler!! lol! The Prowler roadshow was just one of the programs I managed for the motorsports company and, of course, the nearest and dearest to my heart!! I managed many other programs for them, usually four at a time along with my Office Manager responsibilities. Some of those were the NHRA Pontiac Racing roadshow, the NHRA Warren Johnson Show Car Program, the NASCAR Pontiac Racing roadshow, the GM Accessories roadshow program that went to Craftsman Truck Series races and I also handled the GM Contingency programs (Chevrolet and Pontiac) for all their racing venues and also the GM Performance Parts and ACDelco Contingency program for NHRA.

Yes........I was a very busy lady!!!

I'm glad everyone has enjoyed the photos.....it was fun to go back again!

CapitalCatThank you, CJ. Really interesting to see all the history. I for one am glad they ultimately "flared" the headlamps. The flush lamps make the prototype almost look cross-eyed in the photo. And those rims... fugedaboutit.

According to a publication, the rear tire size was 335/25-20.

Some of the things I like more about the concept that I wish made it into production:
1) silver/metal looking head rests
2) folding hard top
3) more stylish looking bumpers
4) wider rear tires
5) the placement of the exterior door handles
6) everything about the interior
7) the estimated 13.7 sec quarter mile times

PROWLER-KEITHI'm with you on those Bill. I have my Concept Prowler sitting right in front of me on top of my monitor. I wonder if the original tires we're Goodyears also and if so why didn't they use that size? also I like the no side panel markers and no door handles Heck I love the whole thing "That's Why I bought One"

CJ one question I asked that you didn't answer was "Where these Kats crushed after??
