Rare1I pay just USD 200 a year, but then I have a restriction - I may only use the car for "pleasure" driving, and not as a daily driver! I can live with that!

Mikael

Bob HarderHELP!!

I am way off the chart at the high end with insurance (no previous claims, good driver, etc....)

What level coverage do folks have who are in the $600-800 range? I have $100/200k bodily, $25000 property, comp deduct of $200, collision deduct of $500, only 5000 miles a year...

I am with USAA and usually their rates are great...

Any particular carriers that seem to have good prices?

p.s. For a '99 that is out of warranty, can a after-market warranty still be purchased?

Gary CWhich Pool are you talking about? heated? you can edit the topic, click on edit and look up at the top to change or correct for heading,
Bob HarderThe poll ('pool') of insurance costs for the Prowler...
cmblockhusOK, so Im old and never went past the fixum school of spelling yes it is Poll.

I have state farm 50 deduct on comp 500K on coverage and full time driver every day the 01 is a little higher then the 99 but not that much

CTProwlerIt all depends how much of the year you have it insured. I drop my insurance on my convertibles end of OCT,or if it Snows. I put it back on usually sometime late march. I let the sand wash off the roads alot first. So if you look at it that way its not Bad. Year round is about $1100. 1 Truck and four sports cars $5600 yr. It all depends on your Cars value also, size engine etc. You wouldn't want to drive your kat now in CT. Sand pelting your front end from the cars in front of you would destroy your car

ed monahanActually the location is the biggest factor in determining rates. Higher accident locales, higher lawsuit states and places where cars are stolen a lot are the main culprit. Your driving record plays into also. The type of cars that get stolen a lot (for parts) to repair wrecks also is a factor.
I am not an insurance salesman but I used to have insurance on some of my cars. lol.
ProwlerBob,

Sent you a PM.

Steven R. GaryBob, I'm in Indiana with Moterist Mutual. From Nov 1 thru April 15 I pay only comp and keep it in the garage. $292 for that time period, that is with $50 ded. During the remainder of the year Collision is added with a $250 deductable and rate goes to $574 for 6 months. Now you have some comparison figures. Oh, and this rate has no limitations on mileage or where I can drive it.
Bob HarderThanks, Stephen...

I will be checking out various carriers and will post results....

Bob HarderThanks, Bob...

I will be calling State Farm tomorrow...we'll see how CA rates compare to IL...

TriJimBob H -- If you're looking for additional data points before you make a decision -- I also have USAA insurance and a clean family driving history (no claims or tickets in > 10 years), 5000 annual mileage predicted, shown as pleasure (not work), 100/300 bodily injury, 50k property damage, similar deductables. The Prowler premium is $506 per 6 mo, Viper is $647 per 6 mo.

I've attributed the higher rates to my 18 year-old son with no accidents and fact that I must maintain both Pennsylvania and Texas no-fault limits. Daughter will turn 16 next month. Let me know how you make out with State Farm.

jeffsurpYou might want to consider adding an umbrella policy to your homeowners policy vs. additional liability insurance. We currently pay $150.00 annually for a $2,000,000 umbrella policy (Nationwide). This covers an additional building lot that we own in addition to covering any additional car insurance. This may save many of you additional duplicate coverage on owning several cars plus property.
Todd Cameronhmmm, gotta call on that one
