Al That's exactly my point, if you guys are happy with the way it is now then so be it......but someday ( if not already ) someone here is going to get burnt ( it won't be me though ). Al ------------------ I see your point that some people just sign up to get free ad space and might just sell what-ever they are listing at no cost and they don't contribute to the site ...on the other hand sometimes it could be a good service to rest of us if we are looking for that item.... also lot of people post and are not supporters of this site... and yes buyer beware anytime you buy something from someone you don't know... This message has been edited by davidn on 01-08-2003 at 08:32 AM Al LOL! And by making them post at least 25 times prior to advertising you then are assured they are legit? I can't imagine many dealers selling these cars are going to want to get that chatty just to advertise a car. By not letting them post, it would hurt those of us that want these cars and services. I think if one is prudent they can minimize their risk to getting burnt. I personally buy tons of stuff over the internet and haven't gotten burnt once. Not to say it couldn't happen to me, just taking precautions. KatAddict, I have given some thought whether to reply to your comment "Stupid", I will. **** you. A good example is Ebay. There are a lot of people on this site who search for Prowler items for their collections, etc. It kills me sometimes to see the descriptions for some of these items that are just out and out lies and ridiculous amounts of money that some of the things are bid up to! Like the RARE brochures........when in fact thousands of them were handed out through the years. Like the Matchbox gold Prowler with the yellow Prowler on the side. Starting bid...$7.99.......I can still find them at the stores for $.99!!! Someone recently contacted me about an item they were interested in and wanted to know if the description was accurate......NOT. I think that a lot of the people who sell this stuff really don't know anything about it and make up descriptions to make it sound great....and don't forget all the Dodge Prowler items.........sheesh! Again, it's just buyer beware and be careful what you are paying for. ------------------ I agree. Perhaps if there was other criteria but, I failed to see how posting 25 times would make a crook legit (if they wanted to deceive anyone). They could post 5000 times and still be a crook. Perhaps if they had a number next to their name (like ebay) and it would show us how many tiems they have sold here. It could also tell us how many were positive and how may were negative. New sellers would obviously have a "0" by their name whereas seasoned sellers might have a "250" or "2570" by theirs (indicating the number of items sold through POA)I know that would be alot of work but, know of no other way to be fair and impartial if you really want to impliment something like this.Al's Prowler How many of you think you should have at least 25 post before you can place an ad in the classifieds? JRL That's absurd
JRLed monahan Al, I can see your point that some are just joining the site to sell their car. BUT they may not sell their car and become a very productive contributor in the future. It does not hurt anything that they post something for sale, although the prices are usually unrealistically high, since they are not familiar with the going rates. The ad falls off the page fairly quickly so I do not think it is a big deal.
jomo SuperKat I like the ads and the more the better. Sure some prices may be high but that is a place I look regularly and see no harm. I know of at least one new prowler owner who made that his first post offering some good info on the RC prowler sale. Why restrict it? ALLEY CAT Ed - I'll agree and besides,,,,,someone looking for a used cat might find what they are looking for and buy. Another thought,,,,are the people who don't normally post and might have some extra parts, a trailer, or aftermarket parts to sell. You just never know who lurks out there! CJ Al........there are a lot of Prowler owners and enthusiasts who regularly read this site. They come here for info, keep up on products and events, etc. However, there are a great number of people who are not comfortable with posting, and that's okay. If at some point, they wish to sell something in the classifieds, they certainly have that right..........even if they've hardly ever (or never) posted before! Besides, it can end up benefiting other owners! Al's Prowler quote:

P.S. and I know, buyer beware.ALLEY CAT Al - Your point is well taken. I can see where you are coming from, but on the other hand, we have had people who lurk on the website for many months before ever registering. Many have been cat owners possibly new to computer useage and timid about posting. Let's give it time and if it ever gets really out of control, then we can bring this topic back up again for discussion. JMO Gary C I really see no reason, maybe it should be an area where you need not to register?

P.S. and I know, buyer beware.KatAddict What gives with a "Stupid" statement like that...how many times have you guys and gals been able to pick up a good item at a good price from someone who posted an item for the first time. I bought my Air Patrol on this site and I know the person who sold it only posted a few times...Sorry for being so strong minded but come on ! Al's Prowler This is not a new idea, it is done on some other automotive forums and I thought I'd bring the idea here. I can see it hasn't been well received here, I guess the benefits outweigh the risks. CJ KatAddict and Al...........Al's question was not "stupid", it apparently was based on concern for the people who use this site. Nothing wrong with that. As other people have stated.......it is a buyer's beware situation ANY time someone sells something in a classified section, whether it be on this site, in a newspaper, etc. As others have stated, it is an avenue to find items we might otherwise not know about.......whether that person is a supporter of the site or not! Gary C Group HUG? KatAddict Sorry for the strong willed statements...I noticed that this is a "Forum" It doesn't say "Opinions" Randy Cobb Al-I see your point, but I agree with AC in that until it becomes a problem the missed opportunities far outweigh the potential harm.
