robbiebOk, I can make my drivers seat "tip" backwards and forwards. Is there any way to make it go "down"? The only thing I can figure out is to "tip" it backwards and that way my head isn't going through the roof! But I still graze the roof with my head! Just wondering if anybody out there knows a magic combination for more headroom.
catfishtake frt.seat lever.not recliner lever.push it forward, hold it down, takeseat ,grab at head rest, and tip forward.frt of seat will go all the way down.take same lever hold it back, and push seat back at headrest.your seat will now be as low as it will go.these seats are stiff, you will have to push hard to make it move.

1HOTCATIf you need more head room, how about folding the top down, I think that might work. Ha Ha !!!
ed monahanYou have to be sitting in the driver's seat to lower it. You cannot lower it while standing outside the car. To raise it you cannot be sitting in it.
There are two levers on the side and one on the front to slide it back and forth. I don't remember which SIDE lever lowers it.
ALLEY CATRob - there are no dumb questions here, as we all learn as we go. Jan and Ed are both right,,,,you just have to play with that darn seat awhile until all falls into place. You will get it!

Feel free to ask any questions, or add you input at any time. We'll do are best to answer them.

BTW - WELCOME to the POA

robbiebThanks for the "help" everybody! I guess the Prowler seats are just one of those mysteries of life! Heh-heh, some things we just were meant to comprehend.
JoeDRobbie,

I'm a fairly big boy, here's my fix. The car really is quite comfortable, but it took a while because my positioning is considerably different than any car I've previously driven.

There are 3 adjustments: slide forward/back, knee tip up/down, and back incline. The first step is done while outside the cat.

  • First, I tip the knees all the way down, and slide the seat a bit forward.
  • This allows me to sit and incline the back more ( with the back inclined I get more room between my thinning top and the ragtop.)
  • Finally, I adjust the slide all the way back.

I'm most comfortable ( in all other cars ) with a very upright stance. The above "method" lends itself to an incline and long reach for steering wheel (sorta like many young kids I see barely peering over the steering wheel.) BUT, the top of my head is certainly less bruised!

Anyone know how to stop hitting my forehead, eyes, or bridge of nose on the driver door window upon exiting? My family doesn't even ask anymore..."What happened"...but they still l o l! My last nose KatScratch is in the scabbing phase as I write this.

fixummJoe know the feeling .just do the dukes of hazard thing...roll the window put down the top and jump
Black Tie 161Headroom: The farther back the seat is the more it rides vertically up the backstop behind the seat, since it is slanted. You might have to sacrifice legroom for headroom....it's all a tradeoff. I find myself tilting the steering wheel up more than I want to preserve leg room....but I'm still smiling, so who cares.

Getting in an out can become a fine art in itself. I try not to graze my feet on the side sills either.

catfishyou can adjust seat down from inside or outside,up outside only.took me almost a year before i figured out seat will go down rear also.tip, having trouble getting in/out,make your doors open wider.see previous posts, under make your doors open wider.tip, does your carpet, on sill, get dirty from dragging your feet over it.use 3m clear protector,to protect it ,works great on sills and is easy to remove/replace.i made plastic sill plates, but they are to thick, minimal clearence, between dr./carpet.

Balistkyou know, I'm pretty sad because if anyone messes with my seat, it takes me about a hour to get it back to the way I wanted it..!!!
robbiebSometimes it seems like I get it just right. I'm 6'1" and 205. Then my wife drives it...she's only 5'2". After that it never seems right again! And then just when I start to "get used to it" she'll decide to drive it and BOOM! I'm right back to the beginning! I don't mind it... I still love this car, I'm just starting to accept that the seat adjustment is one of those "loveable" quirks that give the car even more personality (at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
superdanthegarbagemanremember what my auntie sovlaki used to say...there are no dumb questions...just dumb people...put a sunroom on the top and keep it open...wear a old football helmet and sperti sunglasses....that worked for me..
Todd Cameronrobbie, guess you'll have to buy TWO

robbiebyeah Todd, I think that wife is HOPING I'll buy two!
CJrobbie.........it's really not that hard to adjust the seat..just need a little practice.

I'm only 5'..........but then my husband doesn't drive my cat! lol!

TFischerRobbie: Don't feel bad, I needed to get something that rolled under the seat and used the height adjustment lever to move the seat. I'm still trying to get it readjusted! I'll go out later and try Jan's tip to see if I can get it back to where it was before I messed with it. Good luck! Tami
Richard JacksonThe seat is extremely difficult to get back the way you had it if someone changes it! I too have spent hours testing the seat adjustment. Whew!
