MecadocHello,
Take care of yourself.
ed monahanJohn, good luck and heal quickly.
cdeluca99Get well soon brother
Stray CatThis is less than half price for headers With all the proper accessories - a good deal. Hope all goes well and your recovery is a lot less time than anticipated. Best of luck and get well.

John

johnstuttleThank you for all the kind thoughts. I probably worded this ad darker than my situation is. Thank God I am only going to need a shoulder replacement, so nothing life threatening but still a pain in the ass (shoulder). LOL Thanks again for you prayers and support!
ed monahanI have had both replaced. The recovery didn't take all that long, much quicker than I expected. Several years between the two procedures.
johnstuttleThat’s good to know Ed. Maybe my doctor is just giving me a worst case scenario. I had a knee replaced 7 years ago and it took about 6 months before I was comfortable with it. Fractured my pelvis in four places in 2022 and that was much quicker although it will never be quite right. So hopefully this will be a shorter term recovery than what they are telling me.
ed monahanYour shoulder doesn't have to bear much weight. I barely used my sling, maybe just a couple of days. I went to rehab about 5 times and then left for Fla. so that was the end of it. I am not suggesting you ignore everyone, like I did, but it really didn't take long for me to get past it. Good luck.

Replacement seems to heal better than the rotator cuff I had repaired, 6 months & when I went back to work was still too soon.

You said 6-8 months figured your rotator was getting repaired

ed monahanYep, that surgery requires a lot more recovery time. I had a friend who had rotator done about the same time as my replacement and he was out of commission a lot longer than me.
Stray CatFirst rotator Cuff Surgery my Shoulder froze. Locked. He wanted to do another surgery. My Physical Therapist told me "it will take him 20 minutes, but you will be in a "cast" for 6 months with your arm sticking straight out. Go get some pain meds, take two before you come in here and I am gonna hurt you. But you will break this free without the surgery". The doctor said "I'll give you 2 weeks. It is not that easy to break one of these free". She was right, she hurt the hell out of me, and he was wrong, we broke my frozen shoulder free in about 3 weeks. When I had to have the other one done, I was literally crying. Nurse; " are you crying?" me; "Yes". Nurse; "Why?" Me; " Because I know what I am getting ready to go through." Happily, the second one weas SOOOOOOO much easier than the first. So very lucky. First one was a bear.

John

BeWareI had frozen shoulders in both arms. It’s when adhesions grow between the joints due to lack of movement. It started out a Bursitis and because I was. Restricting my arm movement due to the pain the adhesions formed. The first doctor I saw wanted to do surgery. Thankfully the insurance required a second opinion. The second doctor said I didn’t need surgery. The adhesions would be broken by him putting me under and rotating my arms. It was very painful when I woke up. They gave me a shot of morphine and that didn’t help. They gave me a second shot and I was still in serious pain. They said they could not give me a third shot but were able to give me a morphine pill. I was in real pain for several days and then went trough months of physical therapy.
johnstuttleYou guys sound so encouraging. Can't wait to go through this. LOL
ed monahanI was having a horrible time trying to roll over to get out of bed. I absolutely had to have the surgery. I was very happy once it was over with. No pain at all just some weakness for a short time.
johnstuttleI thought this was a headers for sale thread? I will retitle it “shoulder surgery experiences and would you like to buy a set of headers to make you feel better” lol thanks for all you input on my upcoming surgery. Great group here. 👍
MecadocBy tinkering a little, maybe a steering ball joint from Rare Parts..... Lol

A little smile in this brutal world doesn't hurt...

. That is what a new shoulder looks like. Installation is extra.
cdeluca99Those little chrome goodies are extra too

kkuntz01May be easier to install those shoulder parts than the headers. Less parts. See if you can get a package deal.
cdeluca99Honestly the headers are a piece of cake to install. Front end up, grill off ,side panels off, drivers headlight out,(only for A/C hardware access) I did loosen my A/C belt and move the compressor for easier access but it seriously was easy. Retorqued mine after 100 miles then 250 and never touched em again. No leaks ever. Don't be intimidated by this job common sense and a little mechanical ability. Just pay attention when you are doing the job and it'll go smooth. No special tools required.
