robin | Read this Jeep thread may be helpful. http://jeepgarage.org/f107/for-anyone-experiencing-the-tipm-fuel-pump- relay-issue-recall-r09-180898.html http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BTUJRSU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=jeepgarageconvert-20 This message has been edited by robin on 01-05-2019 at 10:14 AM |
u00tjs2 | if this is a reoccurring failure, owners need to file complaint with Jeep. In reading the link that Robin posted it indicates that this is not only a starting issue, but also vehicle can stop without warning. This sounds like a Safety issue and as such OEM should have made this a Safety Recall, not just a typical recall. reports should be made to NHTSA as well as OEM in US. ------------------ |

Tomcal | If you don't have luck finding the recall kit, consider building your own. This link on eBay is for relays and relay sockets that look almost identical to Jeep kit and are 30/40 amps. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=automotive+relay+socket&_sacat=0&_sop=15&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1 You will also need and in-line fuse holder that's available at any auto parts store. For crimp connectors, use waterproof connectors or conventional ones and strip off insulation, then use shrink tubing, liquid electrical tape or good old plain electrical tape. Brass tubing from a hobby store also works. Then, follow directions in recall instructions. Hope that helps. |

Tomcal | Jeff, Also found this with built in fuse, although fuse is exposed to the weather. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5Pcs-DC-12V-Car-SPDT-Automotive-Relay-4-Pin-4-Wires-w-Harness-Socket-30-40-Amp-E/273640383048?hash=item3fb63ce248:g:r30AAOSwF7lcLXdw:rk:3:pf:0 Can't validate quality of any of these made in China relays. But Chrysler/FCA doesn't seem to have any better quality according to Jeep Garage forum. You could just use socket part and buy a higher quality relay, or purchase more than one of the cheap relays and keep spares in glove box. Tom |
