reechee | I have tried and failed to install these struts. Neither I nor my mechanic had any success. It seems I cannot get the hood quite high enough to get them installed. I have had them too long to try and get a refund. LS Technologies says they are the correct ones for the Prowler. If you would like to take a chance, all I ask is that you pay for the shipping. Send me a PM if you want to try your luck. |

Just what seems to be the problem? With their gas shocks the hood will open a bit higher. If you are trying to install one side then the other might be the problem. Have had them on my car for 10 years and they still are fine. ------------------ Larry & Sue Mayes |
TucsonJer | Reechee, raise your hood as high as it will go and use a mop handle or something that will keep it up and then install them. I didn't have a problem installing mine and everyone knows that I'm probably the least mechanical guy on this forum. Good luck. Jer |
Snickers | I sent you a PM regarding adjusting the lower mounts. You can probably get your struts to fit. I had the same problem. |
ALLEY CAT | "Neither I nor my mechanic had any success." Not trying to be funny or sarcastic.....you need a new mechanic! If difficulty exists > You hold the front of the hood.....other person removes both of the old struts. Lift the hood high while the other person installs the top of the new ones, and lower the hood to snap in the bottom connection. |
TLRandall | I agree with the others, you cannot replace one side at a time, have to prop the hood, remove both sides, prop it a little higher, then replace both sides before removing the prop. It raised my Mulholland quite a bit, almost worried I was trying to raise it too high, but once I got them on, it settled a bit. |
robin | Here's a deal..You pay the shipping cost for me and I will come down there and help you install them..... By the way I'm light..... not enjoying this snow day... robin This message has been edited by robin on 03-03-2017 at 11:29 AM |
BeWare | I agree. You cannot do one side at a time. They do raise the hood higher. Mine have been on 11 years and still work perfect. |
reechee | Thanks for all the responses. They are spoken for. |
Patm | I live in Saskatoon where they are made. When I had mine done they installed them and took pictures while doing so. I'm sure they have an install reference somewhere. quote: Originally posted by reechee: I have tried and failed to install these struts. Neither I nor my mechanic had any success.
