catfish | fixed a friends prowler this morning, main frt wire loom.rt side at pcm ok not in a bind.lt side at relay center bind in 2 places, both at the relay center area.one the cowl was already cutting into the loom in both spots, but hadnt got to the wires yet, better ck yours or one day you will have running and starting problems. ------------------
|
idive | You say you fixed his car... The loom was pinched, but wires were ok. Was the pinched loom causing him to have a problem with his car? What was wrong with it? What symptoms did he have? |
catfish | he didnt have any problems yet,but would have sometime in the future.the loom at the relay center was pretty squashed,im surprised he didnt have a problem.it was a preventative fix.cut the loom ties loose 3 of them, and put some rigid foam between loom and body,to take the pressure off the wires.the pressure on the wires in the loom is just like a short, the car will stop running and unless the tech knows of this problem and is very compotent, may never find the cause,w/o spending many labor hours and hundreds of dollars.this problem of squashed wires in the loom can happen on either side of the car.see my previous post under electrical problem. ------------------

idive | Thanks Jan. I've done the fix at the relay box and cowl. I had a pretty good pinch in those places. Mainly at the box. But had no problem at the PCM. Good reminder. |
David Veu Casovic | Jan do you have any Pic's of the squashed wire's?? |
catfish | i have no pics of the lt side,if you go to my previous post-electrical problem/catfish you will see pics of rt side.all you have to do is remove 3 bolts for access to either side.if the loom is up again anypart of the car it needs to be fixed to avoid later problems, sorry i dont know how to add that link to this post. ------------------
