------------------ ------------------ ------------------ I stopped using anything on the top when I began to notice residue that would remain in the fabric even after rinsing it thoroughly. I began washing the top with clean water only and a soft bristle brush.... ------------------ ------------------ ------------------ This message has been edited by idive on 12-21-2009 at 05:23 PM John Cole what do you use one your top to keep it looking good. JeraneW Aside from washing it, I use a garment lint roller which picks up dust, and of course, lint. Works great. catfish after its perfectly clean and dry.use 303products.com--fabric guard.use a couple coats and it will look great, follow instructions on bottle. DON WIEBER once a year i use the top conditioner from chyrsler. the dirt comes off easy. water just beads and easy to dry off. jwallis I have used 303 on several cars over the last ten years with great success,be careful not to get it your glass very hard to get off. catfish 303 is the main supplier of top protectant.the chrysler stuff is most likely 303.porsche-bmw benz, the stuff they sell is 303 relabeled.wipe off of glass before it dries.if you have trouble getting off the glass use cheap lacquer thinner,i would cover the top the frt and side weatherstrips, with 2 inch masking tape. 99prowler99 Is there a way to get the rub marks out that occur on the back top of the top? Tennessee Cat This is funny. I used to brag that my 2000 had never been wet. I used the lint roller to keep the dust off the top and tried a couple of convertible top cleaners but it never looked really new or black. Now this is a car that has always been in a garage and had less than 10,000 miles on it. Because I seldom have the top up when driving it I wasn't really worried.
THEN I went to the Smokies event and of course it rained. My poor baby got wet. BUT after the rain stopped and I dried the car off, presto, my top was clean, black and looked like new. Amazing what a little water will do.catfish rub marks ,once there there no way to remove them. bjprowler When washing my Kat I never use soap/carwash on the top. catfish to remove dirt from top, best way ive found is to go to ,what they call around here ,is a wave a wand car wash.use the sprayer with or w/o soap, the pressure will remove any embedded dirt.it will come out looking like new.then put on the 303 after dry. John Cole thanks i am going to use the 3m 303 product. catfish the best price is direct from there website,or i believe ace hardware also carries it,sometimes the shipping will offset the sales tax.its the best protectant out there.and also repels dirt and water.ive used it for years.makes the top look like new. catfish the best price is direct from there website,or i believe ace hardware also carries it,sometimes the shipping will offset the sales tax.its the best protectant out there.and also repels dirt and water.ive used it for years.makes the top look like new.they do have places where you can buy it direct also. idive Boat supply stores sell 303. There is also a 303 fabric cleaner to use before using the fabric guard. When using there is more overspray than you think so protect those windows and paint. I made a plug for the rear window out of thin cardboard. Make sure you allow ample dry time before driving it, especially driving it in the rain.
