fontenolJust wanted to say to my fellow prowler owners that a great upgrade for your car is DyNAMAT. I used dynamat under the carpet under the rear deck lid and also behind the seats and finally on the floorboard under the carpet. All I can say its amazing how solid the car sounds now. No more of the hollow road noise it sounds amazing, the inside in so quiet the system doesnt sound that bad now. I f you want a fantastic and easy to do project to make your baby sound great trust me Dynamat the car, you will not be disappointed at all!! Have a great and safe holiday deason to all....
EssexExportSounds good. Tell us more. Did you do this yourself? Take long? Spend much?
fontenolyes I did it myself and is it so easy to do. I went to pep boys or I think best buy sells it too, I bought the Dynamat Extreme and got after it. It honestly took me from start to finish about 2-hours. All you do is lift the carpet up and cut the Dynamat to how you want it to fit, peel off the backing on it and stick it to the car. What you want you want to do is stick it to the floorboard, stuck it behind the seats, and in the truck. Put the carpet back in and you dont even see it, thats what makes it so nice. I think my whole car was maybe $200 and i had quiet a bit left over. I promise you if you do it you would have wished you done it sooner, I know I do.....
JOYRIDEThanks for that..... I think I'll try it
attyedhallgreat tip...thanks
ZapcopdSound like a good idea. I assume you pulled the seats out. Did you do every square inch or just the big flat areas? Did you put it up the sides and under the console area or is that too much work? Never took that area apart so I have no idea what's involved. I'm not sure about doing under the rear deck? How thick is it? Cargo area back there is so limited. Sorry for all the questions but this is one upgrade that I think I'm going to try. I like the idea of making the car a little quieter. I guess I'm getting old. I used to look forward to taking my Road Runner out with open headers. Those days are long gone.
DonI did the complete hot rod with it and it's worth every penny.

alrtgMy Prowler already had it done when I bought it. I have not taken the car apart to inspect how well it was done but have found it in the trunk area and the floorboard. While replacing the POS OE window regulators a couple years ago, I found the Dyna Mat in two places on each door.

First was between the door panel and the door, The Dyna Mat was installed on the door with a cardboard backer to bridge the gaps for the access holes,... Second the Dyna Mat was installed on the back side of the outer door skin.

Since the only other Prowler I have driven has been my Dad's car, I can't really make a comparison since most of my experience behind the wheel of his car has been on secondary roads and under 50 MPH but my car does seem to be relatively quiet inside at highway speeds.

I am considering installing it in my Corvair between the engine compartment and the back seat and maybe on the floors.

ZapcopdI always assumed that the car was a little noisy because it was a soft top. Never owned a soft top conv. before.
catfishthere is another product by thermotec, adhesive backed aluminized heat and sound barrier, you get more for less money than dynamat, and its just as good as dynamat.thermotec.com
this subject has been discussed many times before.
