CCJDoes anyone have the shocks from the prowler store seen here for 2001-2002 prowlers?
They advertise that they are BETTER then the factories for a smoother ride...
http://www.theprowlerstore.com/Products_Page_Parts_Upgrades_Shocks-Springs.htm

Any truth to this? I know Larry Lord sold some at one point too.

padrooLooks like the real SHOCK is in the price difference.

Are yours leaking or do you just want a better ride?

alrtgLooking at the front shock prices it seems someone is really bad at math or is adding a $20.05 surcharge for the convenience of buying two at a time.

One front shock is $149.95 X2 = $299.90

Two shocks purchased together = $319.95

On the positive side, even though this source charges an arm, leg, and three fingers for their stuff......at least the parts are available.

Keeping this simple idea in mind may help when making decisions.

If the part is available, it is usually worth the asking price.

If the part is no longer available, it is usually worth more.

In this case, Koni to the best of my knowledge no longer makes these shocks available for purchase generally speaking. They do however (I think) offer rebuilding of their product. It is likely going to be much less than the vendor mentioned above but the convenience of a quicker turnaround may be worth it to some customers.

Educate yourselves before making purchases but, always try to know when to jump on something that is offered and otherwise unavailable at any price.

robinNicely put alrtg ! Great advice...

Both

prowlerartist1I would go with the adjustable coilovers that we're offered. I have them and gives a softer ride.

The ones from the viper guy?

beachcatPretty sure that viper guy is still in the doghouse.
MDProwlerProwler store shocks look like factory leakers to me. Not worth more then $30 each.
Larry LordJust to clarify things.

I sell factory MOPAR Koni front shock assemblies in factory MOPAR boxes.
These are COMPLETE KONI assemblies. Just pull the upper and lower bolts, remove your leaking shocks then replace with your new shocks before you put the bolts back in.

I don't make much on these but I've sold them for years. My prices should be much higher but to be honest, it doesn't take much effort on my part other than to invest my money to be sure that I always have 4 or 5 pairs on the shelf.

I've been a part of this club since inception and even before. I've manufactured many parts to help out my friends here and have planned many large events for all to enjoy.

I've never had an unsatisfied customer. Maybe you should check to see if the other vendors can make those statements and still sleep at night.

Spend your money where you feel comfortable. I personally have had problems with and do not feel comfortable with either of the vendors mentioned.

One more thing,,,I just looked at the website. $599 for ONE front shock with an exchange (and additional shipping cost) for shock to fit the newer years? Are these guys smoking crack? Those are the ones that leak!
Take a look at the price for the '99 shocks. Do you truly think that they would not be priced at $599 also if it weren't for me keeping them honest by selling at the prices I do? I have little patience for vendors trying to rip off our members.

RPLLarry is right on the money. I have a pair of his shocks sitting in the garage to be installed in an owner's car. He has built some great parts and his prices have always been fair. His service is top notch.

I believe that on one of his trips to Woodward he used our garage and lift to install Wonder Bars for owners. Another time he sent me a pile of hinge protectors and I installed them for owners while they were enjoying Woodward.

Larry please check your inbox I replied back to you

ed monahanThis goes back to folks telling me not to bad mouth the Prowler Store. Support the folks who support YOU, here on POA. Larry Lord has been here forever. Everything he does is first class. His wonder bar works. His hinge protectors work. His trailer stands work.
OR support the Prowler Store and pay double the price (or maybe 5 times the price on some things and see if they can give you free advice on the side. NOT going to happen.

Support Tom Mills, Gary E, Larry Lord, etc. The guys who are car guys, mainly Prowler guys who have been on this site for almost 14 years, who attend the big events and who will help you out in a pinch.
You can throw RPL into the mix also, he doesn't "produce" any products but he sure has the connections to get things done.

It would be different if these guys were jacking up the price to make a few extra million but in fact they are waaaaay cheaper than the Prowler Store.

End of rant.

Bob,

Yes indeed I did use your garage and lift. I installed 17 Wonder Bars that day for members attending the Dream cruise. I could not have done it without your help. Mike Gatlin stopped in for an installation and was kind enough to make the Wonder Bar installation video while I installed his Wonder Bar.
This site has been good to me and I try to give back to the members whenever I can.

Just a quick afterthought and insight,,,
The reason I ended up at Bob's place was because a certain vendor (with lots of parts) in Michigan had promised me the use of his lift then backed out at the last minute because he didn't want to be bothered with people at his shop.
I had already promised many people that I would install Wonder Bars while I was at Woodward and this vendor could not even be bothered to loan his lift for the benefit of our members. BTW he has never advertised on this site and many people have had problems with him too.
Needless to say, I will never buy anything from him but that's my choice.

RPL stepped up (as always) to help the group out and I appreciated it very much. RPL is a class act and always helping our members.

dskattVendors who are not regular POA supporters or members have their place, a increasingly valuable place as time moves on. However I believe we should all support POA vendors first, whenever possible. I bought my front shocks from Larry and was treated very profesionally and promptly. I bought my rears from the viper guy and received them after some delay and a few phone calls. I am well pleased with both products but if Larry had the rears for sale, I would have purchased them from him.

I agree completely with your statement. I have always bought from the site vendors first but when something is not available you don't have much choice. I don't think the goal should be to cut your nose off to spite your face. Yes The Prowler Store is overpriced but if they are the only ones that have it what do you do if you want it? They're the only ones who supply hardtops. If a member wants a hardtop can he not have one cause it will make another member angry? We're all adults and should be able to decide where and when we choose to spend our money without fear of others getting mad. Coincidentally the hardtops are good buys. I know this subject will continue to come up but that's my 2 cents.

Also Silvercat, FYI the Prowler store sells original factory soft tops for Prowlers for approximately 40% less than ordering the top from Mopar dealer. That is every bit as good a deal as the hardtops. I agree that other items may be overpriced but if you want it, you buy it from whatever vendor can offer what you want. JMO.

Since you must clearly appreciate all of the 'free advice' you get from the hundreds of posted questions you bring to the POA forums,,,,,,why not make a financial contribution to the website?

I take that as I need to stop posting questions and videos. Dually noted.

SimonsezCCJ. It does not matter if it is free or not. You have not listen to any advice these Prowler experts have offered you yet. But you keep coming back asking for more and more free advice then do the opposite. Really, I don't know why you even bother.
