dbudnerMake sure you check the front shocks to see if they are leaking. I had a little rattle before I swapped mine out.
catfishWHAT!has the frt upper arms ever been greased, maybe you bought one that has a cracked frame.take it to a dealer.could be a multitude of things.

dskattI had the same problem. Do a search for "undercarriage noise" you will see a photo of what to tighten.
obi-wanYou might just have to little grease in the rear bottom ball joints. The plastic caps pry off and you can use a std. grease gun to shoot a few shots in them.
I had this problem when I put new a-arms in my car that I had polished. I caught the problem right away and it was then not a problem. Please let us(me)know if this helps, Obi-Wan

George JohnsonChrysler installed different shocks on the 2001, and if the shocks are Black they are Dynamics (POS). You'll have to change them out to Konis (Gray). I have changed my fronts and I am in the process of changing the rears. The Dynamics were leaking at 3k miles. Good Luck!

can u help me fore the upper arms grees lociton?
& no cracked on a frame
thanks
viper&prowler soulthanks George
can u send a websit for Gray shocks ?
toysKoni shocks will be clearly marked on the top of the shock spring retaining collar, dynamic suspension will have a plain shock retaining collar.

(As many times as I've posted on this subject i'm not sure why I called them general dynamics)

Dynamic suspension shocks are known to snap in 2 or bend, besides leak that might be the source of your noise Look at the coil springs to see if they are bent & rubbing on the hole in the frame

hope this helps

catfishthere are 2 grease fittings frt top and rr lower.see the black round caps on top, gently pop them off, they snap on to the grease fitting in the center.the boot that holds the grease should be firm.put in just enough to expand it.you can see it expand as you grease it.do not over do it,or the boot will pop and leak.this can be done w/o removing the wheels.to put caps back on put on top of grease fitting and using a large screw driver, put one end against wheel and center of screwdriver against cap,and press and you will hear it snap back on.you may have to get
a different grease fitting, what i call a straight one,the hole is on the side to clear the wheel.a angled fitting on
the grease gun wont work.good luck.

catfishthe reason i mentioned the cracked frame is,that chrysler bought back a number of early cars that had bad welds on the frame.yours could be one,and you wouldnt even know it.many of them you, could not actually see the cracks, yet going over a bump,of any kind you could easily hear it.many of those bought back cars went to the auctions all over the usa.im not saying that thats whats causing your noise and lets hope it is something else.the problems existed thru 99s.your best bet to try and locate the noise,is to put on a hoist, get wheels about 6 inches of the ground, put a jack under each lower arm and jackup and release.do it a number of times and see if you can recreat the noise.you cannot jounce a prowler like other cars, because of the stiff suspension.use the hoist jack solution.good luck.are you sure its coming from the frt suspension and not somewhere else.the hood hinges have been known to rattle sometime, which can be heard fromm inside the car.i doubt that yours has a frame problem, although, its possible that a bad frame slipped thru the inspection process, those that were bad,had been caught by alcoa, orior to the 2000 run,i see you have a 01,so i suspect ypurs is not.just a little unknown prowler history here.one more thing, has the ball joint recall been done.

BeWareCheck out this thread. Another area to check for creaking sounds. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/003089.html
You may still be able to get the shocks from Larry Lord. Give him a try. The following is copied from one of his others posts but it's been a while. I x'd out the cost because it may have changed.

Larry's

I have MOPAR / Koni front shocks with springs for $xxx.00 per pair including shipping to your door.

dbudnerAs Rich noted, I bought the replacements from Larry. He had them with the springs already installed so unless you have a press/shop near by this is the way to go. Only took about 30 minutes to swap them out including cleaning the front end back up.

I am not posting this to correct George or show him up.
I finally got around to replacing my front shock on the 02 Candy, today. It was a General Dynamics and the collar was gray and looked just like the Koni including the space. I had it replaced under extended warranty last year but did not have it installed at the dealer. I installed it myself. I had done one previously when it leaked and installed it myself. I decided I ought to get the second one replaced while the warranty was still good.
I thought the general dynamics were black and I thought that Chrysler went to Konis toward the end of production but that was wrong. Not a big deal but someone might look under the hood and see the gray and think they had the Koni shocks.

catfishkonis were used from the get go,then changed to dynamics, and back to konis.

------------------

ed monahanAgain, not to argue with you but the Candy was one of the last produced, I presume and they were gen. dynamics. I am not saying it was one of the last Candy Cats produced, just that it is a Candy and therefore I think it was near the end of production. Again, the top ring was grey and looked dead on a Koni.
catfishim assuming that they went back to konis, but i could be wrong.

------------------

Larry LordKoni Shocks have the name Koni cast in the top spring seat.

Suspension Dynamics or Dynamic Suspension is the correct name of the other shock manufacturer, not General Dynamics which was/is an aerospace and defense contractor.

ed monahanLarry is correct, of course. It says Dynamic suspension and has the Chrysler Star on it. The top is the exact color of the Koni, with the split, but doesn't say Koni, of course.

The body of the Dynamic shock is black and the Koni is gray. I just recently changed both the front and back on my 2001.

Chi_Town_ProwlerMy 2002 has 'Konis' on the front and the 'Dynamics' on the rear.
Is this common?? Did other cars have 'Konis' on the front and rear??
catfishnot common.but not surprised.they either came with 4 of one or the other.possible they ran out of one brand during assembly.

Did you buy the car new? If not maybe previous owner changed the front ones.
