Just in case they still won't touch it, This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 10-02-2003 at 05:58 PM Further to my previous post maybe I was not clear enough. My Kat also has the chrome A arm covers and they were not damaged at all when the ball joints were replaced. Again if someone knows what they are doing you should have no problem. HOW MUCH? and a picture would be nice thanks This message has been edited by cmblockhus on 10-03-2003 at 07:56 AM ------------------JRL Help!
I asked this question a while ago and forgot if anyone anawered.
Brought the Kat in for the recall today. It has Gary E's
chrome a arm caps.
They said that they would be afraid to touch it and said thay would have to be removed. This can't be done, of course, as they will break.
Has anyone had the recall done with the chrome covers on, and, if so, how was this accomplished??
Need to know ASAP as the car is at the dealer.
Thanks,
JRLLarry Lord Yes it can be done and has been done a few times at Ontario Chrysler by John Shakarian the Prowler Tech.
Call John at 909-390-9898 for the complete details and tell him I sent you.
If removed carefully, your chrome covers should be just fine. I've had mine on two different cars with no problems. The chrome has held up MUCH better than I expected.

FMB Prowler Products. Blue Tie Had my ball joints done. If you get someone who knows what they are doing there should be no problem. No damage to mine. For info purposes I did not get it done at the dealer but at the mechanic, Darren who services most of our Prowlers up here in Toronto, Canada. It was well worth the small extra cost. JRL You didn't read the post. Mine has the chrome a arm covers and they probably will crack if I try and take them off. The dealers here are slobs.
JRLJim S JRL, re-read Larrys answer to your question. He is addressing the chrome covers. John at Ontario has done several of these with the covers on with no problem. Larry was the first one to be done. Larry also has taken his chrome covers off of his old car, and installed them on the new one with no problems. Just be careful and take your time if you decide to remove the covers and you should be fine. Blue Tie JRL: cmblockhus Please tell me more about the chrome covers, I have never heard of them.
block-busterALLEY CAT Curtis - they were marketed by Carlini, now Products by GaryE. Last I heard, they are not available any more? Sorry, no pictures, but they did look good. Give Gary E a call. Larry Lord

FMB Prowler Products. JRL The covers aren't available any more but I had a miscommunication with the prowler tech. He said no problem with the covers but he was concerned about the real rod nut covers I have on. I explained that he just had to carefully get an adjustable wrench with a rag or towel and they just unscrew so I'm making a new appt..... But I have a transmission problem (clutch packs,2nd to 4th gears)so they are trying to get the Chrysler Rep to OK it under warranty which expired a year ago ('99 Kat), but I only have 3K miles on it.
