ALLEY CATIf you ever need a windshield replaced, you might want to take a few steps to help the installer, and protect yourself from a busted up, top dash section.

Pop off the top of the dash by pulling up on the outter side edges, while pushing down on the front portion up near the windshield. Pop one side loose, then the other side, and lift up and out,,,,being careful with the trip odometer reset mechanism. You could also remove the windshield wiper arms, or let the glass tech do that. Mine are removed anyway,,,but I would rather remove them if they weren't.

(info courtesy of pumpkin Norm, thanks)

Installer, Scott, cleaning up the loose, old sealer material before installing new glass. This is the third Prowler windshield Scott has done for us,,plus our other cars.

Keep in mind, our antenna connection goes into the rectangular box,,up front on the passenger side. Small fingers help to plug in the new connector.

Hope this helps some of you owners.....

HowardGood information.

Thanks

pumpkinGreat info, thanks

Tom,,,,mostly gravel front yards out here, not grass,,,,hence, gravel trucks all over on the roads.

Actually, it was three different Prowlers. When I was ready to sell my first Prowler, I had a new w/s installed for the next owner to start with new glass. The other two,,,just lots of fine sand blasting pits, which causes lots of glare seeing through > you see, we have abundant sunshine out here, as opposed to your gray days back there, lol.

ALLEY CATGary,,,if you need a good job installed on the Ford,,call Scott for replacement. Tell him I referred you.

Don't use those kids at the car washes or gas stations!

Anyone moving out to the Southwestern states,,,always add NO DEDUCTIBLE glass coverage to your auto insurance policy. Only a couple of bucks more, and well worth it.

get the ball peen hammer out.

DublinOHAC....roughly what kind of dollars? I've got a good scratch in mine that I've lived with for years.
catfishdid you put a chrysler w/s back in.

ALLEY CATSteve and Jan,,,,,first of all,,,only OEM w/shields were available for the Prowler. That's a good thing. My glass guy said those w/shields either cost him $415, OR, he billed my insurance company that amount for them,,,not sure? I have $0 deductible on glass, so I didn't really pay much attention to the paperwork, other than signing that the work was completed. Hope that helps some.

Some of those foreign made w/shields are poor quality of glass.

ed monahanSandy's PT had a broken windshield within the first month and about 2 or 3 weeks later I was driving it and a small rock missed the windshield by less than an inch. It hit the top just at the rubber/plasic trim piece.
I have never had to pay for a windshield. I have had maybe 5 or 6 replaced over the years.
Those gravel front yards and the illegal immigrants are really quite appealing. Maybe we will move out there. lol
catfishthere are other a/m windshilds available for prowlers, pilkington and ppg makes them.the glass on the a/m windshields is thinner than fact.glass.no matter what kind of car you have you always want to specify you want fact glass,if you dont they will most likely install a/m glass because it coste them less.

------------------

ALLEY CATIf I remember right,,,,the w/s was PPG(?). The last two times I've had w/s replaced,,,,installer said only OEM was available in our area anymore. This last w/s came from Tucson, as none were available in Phx area.

So,,,hitting a deer on a Gold Wing is more impressive to you, lol. We already have enough repo guys working the streets, so your talents won't be needed here, unless you want to chase illegals running away from the drop houses?
But,,,I think Chi-Town already has his application in here now,,,,so your age/experience wouldn't get you any extra points on the entrance exam. Plus,,,looking at this recent picture of you, doesn't appear that you are in good enough physical shape to chase illegals, lol.

Might try Gallup, N.M.,,,,entrance requirements are much more lax there

ed monahanWhat did you do to that picture? It makes me look like
I have a gut. lol
ALLEY CATHonest,,,,I didn't touch it. Found it somewhere here on site.

I wouldn't do that to you.

You do have that Arizona Sun City look,,,,no socks, lol

ed monahanthat cuts down on the amount of laundry I have to do.
Sandy is really lazy and I have to do all the work. lol
By the way, I didn't need a new windshield when we hit the deer. I did switch it out to a tinted oversized windshield while they had it all apart.
catfishfyi-all fact mopar glass will have the pentastar at the lwr center of the w/s.nopar side glass will also have the pentastar stamped on it.

without the zero deductable , its usually a $ 100.00 total cost with glass coverage from the user.
