WildCatAfter spending the weekend in Ohio and talking to prowler friends and memories of cars that are no longer in the public eye.

Then the Marriott Prowler goes up for sale. Have never seen it in person but it is one that I would like to see and like Rich said, wish I had the money for it.

One that we talked about this weekend was John Ross's car, seen it once, it was painted Chromealusion, had custom hood. Think he sold it shortly after we seen it and have not seen or heard of it since.

John Davies silver bullit, another custom painted car in a silver spectraflare out of California, hear it is still around, but haven't seen anything of it.

The car that Ledgendary Motors did with a corvette engine and Porsche transaxle. Watched some of the build on TV, heard it was in Georgia with heating problems, but where is it today?

Opening some stuff that has been boxed up for the past 5 years and in one booklet was a picture of a red white and blue prowler (flag design) that was a charity car, don't remember seeing it before, thought the article said SPIRIT OF AMERICA, but could be wrong. Does anyone know of this car?

There are so many that have been customized, sold off and never seen again.

George Maxeys for another (talked to the guy that said he bought it but was going to sell it) lots of mods, beautiful car

Where have they all gone?

And it seems some that were at the after Christmas party had no idea about my car.

2000 international points champ in exotic sports, 2001 made into a Johnny Lighting die cast, but guess because we haven't made too many events lately that could be the answer to my own question.

Hope to get it out more this coming year.

ed monahanLarry, there were several new owners at the party. They have only had their Prowlers a year or even less so they know very little about the history of the car or the POA.
The JL was 10 years ago, ancient history when you are only around for the past 9 or 10 months. A lot of them do not get on the computer or check on POA at all. Probably most of them, as a matter of fact.
I like your post, you brought up a lot of cars I forgot about.
CJIt's too bad that the owners who got one of your diecasts didn't take the opportunity to have you sign it!!!
ALLEY CATJohn Ross sold his Chromealusion Prowler locally.....it was sitting in a showroom at a local boat dealer for nearly a year,,,,,and then gone. Don't know where it ended up? Beautiful cat,,,,lots of $$$ into that paint job

The color changing, Chromealusion Prowler:

BeWareJohn Davies old Silver Bullit was at the Las Vegas event. It still looks awesome.

Eddie Powell and I saw the legendary motors car her in GA many years ago at a body shop trying to get overheating probems resolved, but have not see it since.

Denny Sargent's Yellow with Purple flames was another Prowler that just dropped off the map. I believe it was the first car with a custom painted plenum.

treybI have been asking myself the same question when I was doing my research.

Why do so many cool prowler builds especially any that are not just looks but major performance mods disappear?

If you go through history on POA I found a ton of builds and pictures, maybe 1 you tube video in progress then that's it!

Never really see them on the street, at big events, see videos of the cars actually driving around or much follow up! Just those cool looking wow pictures.

Never really got it.

After about 14 months, learned a few things.
1. Prowlers have limitations. And you have to pay to play.

2. A lot of cars you may see at shows look great but it doesn't mean that they drive well.

3. There is a difference between a drivers car and a show car

4.There is a big difference in owners between collectors and those that use them!

When you highly customize a car you take a risk, that risk falls alot into the reliability and upkeep factor.
The prowler is a very rare car in its stock form. The fact that there is so many with low miles means something.

For the few that take one of these rare cars and invest alot of time and money into it. You end up with a very unquie one off custom then have to make a choice. Drive it or make it a show piece! Many that collect cars have alot of them allready so look more for the long term.

So the real street use, actually driving them like before becomes a rare occasion. Those cool build pictures become the legend!

Just a theory! But I'm starting to see it first hand!

Quick example the One-of-a-kind custom was designed and hand built by the famous Chip Foose. John Lingenfelter was brought in to build the LS1 engine for this project, C5 Corvette suspension was used and mated to the all-aluminum Prowler chassis. Titled as a 1934 Ford

That is going up for auction at BJ this weekend. Tons of HP, tons of custom work! The build is amazing! It's been almost 10 years I wonder when it crosses the block how many miles it actually has on it? That is probably one of the most complex builds ever with the full vette drive tran and engine. The pictures and mag covers spectacular
But cannot find any track, long road trips, or real drive tests anywhere!

Show car or drivers car? If a drivers car for the new lucky owner 10 years later who do you take it too to fix it? It's a one off custom!

Here's the reality behind the show http://www.prowleronline.com/misc/lpe_prowler/

Rich,

Had forgot about Denny's car, remember seeing a picture of him next to the car in a matching shirt.

Beautiful car, anyone know where it is?

garysssJust because we don't see or hear of these cars doesn't mean they are not being used. There are over 11000 Prowlers out there and we see and know of very few. Many owners have never heard of POA, I talked to many owners in my area who thought they had the only one in the area.
REBELAC, I saw that prowler at the DAYTONA TURKEY RUN this past thanks giving. I took some pics. I would post, but can't.
WildCatAnother one I thought about today was one that Was at deadwood, custom burgundy paint, supercharged molded in grill, owner was Real Rod Bobs dad

I understand that there were 11,000 prowlers made but out of the 11,000 few have had serious mods and the ones that were and the owners were part of the POA group, so you would think that someone here would know where the cars are.

Even Marty's car, who has it? How many miles are on it now?

The Carmen Electra cat with the leopard interior. No not here as a member, but the car was seen and posted here many years ago.

tangled up in BLUE...I ran into the Kiss Prowler at the Petersen Museum last year

Rebel,,,,Thanks for the report,,truly a beautiful cat that is! When Ross' car was with our local Prowler group during cruising events,,it always stole the show of people taking pictures of it. Hope that cat found a good home in Florida.

I have a signed Johnny Lightning with white wheels signed, from years ago by Larry.

diamondwymondUntil the last year or so, i only knew of three or four in my area. But have learned there are at least another few within 50 miles. But i'm still the only daily driver i know of. Every so often someone tells me of one they saw in a nearby show. In over three years, i've only actually seen four Prowler's besides mine.

CJRichard...you can never have enough autographed diecast of WildCat's Prowler!!! lol!
mdavidjensenInteresting the Barrett is labeled a 1934 Ford just because of the custom grill and headlights? With no real ford parts? Could we make our prowlers a 1933 by putting a 33 Plymouth grill on them?

ProwlinAZI like my Prowler (obviously) more than this one that brought 79K. Boyd Coddington gets away with alot because of his celebrity. Its just a Custom Prowler...barely a 34.He shouldnt be able to change a title like that!

...Boyd doesn't get away with anything any more

CJBoyd Coddington passed away on February 27, 2008
phil2237Boyd paid over a half million in fines here in California for his title actions, and almost went to jail back in 1997.
RPLHow did Boyd's name get into the conversation regarding Dick Marriott's Prowler? John Ligenfelter did the power train for the car. Chip Foose did the suspension and body work. I don't believe that Boyd was involved in any way. Vehicle titling is up to each state's set of rules
