sunbirdI want to let you all know that I traded my kcat for a Crossfire yesterday. (It's a good thing the Crossfire has a Chrysler badge...I'd wouldn't want Rudy to think I be drivin a steenkin' Mercedes!) I won't say goodbye though, I'll still check in from time to time to see how my friends are doing.

It was a fun 2+ years owning the Prowler, but time marches on.

Im with you the Crossfire is a nice car, working for a chrysler dealer I get to drive one once in a while. Im sure you will miss the prowler, I wish you well with the new car.

I know a guy in socal that sells chrome factory wheels for the crossfire to dealers if you want his name and number I will get it from work for you they run about 599.00 for the set exchange

CTProwlerGood luck with the Crossfire.. get rid of that Diamond Motors license plate frame. It always amazes me people advertise for these car dealers, and don't get paid. I assume in your case you just got it and haven't taken the time to remove it. I know people who have never removed them in years?????

Chuck, I totally agree on the dealer advertising. I learned/obtained this view point on this from my Dad. In 1954 he purchased a new Plymouth. In those days the dealer logo was mounted on the trunk and was made of cheaply chrome plated pot metal. They actually had to drill holes in the trunk lid to mount these. My Dad went to pick up the new car he ordered. He walked around it several times and then turned to the salesman and asked him how much the dealership was going to pay him each month. The salesman replied he did not understand. My Dad pointed to the monstrosity on the trunk and said how much are you going to pay for me to advertise your dealership on my car. The salesman replied they would not pay anything and that it was standard procedure. My Dad told him they they would either have to pay him or take it off! And by the way since the trunk had holes drilled in it to mounted the thing, he wanted the trunk lid replaced not repaired. We left and went back a couple days later and picked up the car with a new trunk minus the dealer advertising. Now days they use stick on plastic plates, or vinyl letters or the license frame. I either tell them before hand not to put it on or I use a heat gun as soon as I get home to take them off. If the put a license frame on I take it off and throw it away.

Wayne FinchRich, I remember some of those chrome dealership plaques that were applied - some actually were not too bad although I still would never want one. At least in those days the dealer actually spent some of his own dough on the plaques. Nowadays the things are plastic and are so cheap and they look like it to!
CTProwlerI just had to get it off my chest!!I see people all the time with dealer logos or license plate brackets!!I too remember my dads cars with the chrome logos. Now when you see a guy driving a car around with painted logos all over it he's getting hundreds of dollars to do it.

Wil C. KeenerCongrats ! Have a few questions , How does the performance compare vs prowler? How does it handle compared to the prowler? Have been told by a tech that it has better computer to upgrade and tweak the program vs the prowler.What do you like the most about the car?

The dealer frame might be a little tacky, but in a small town it is a small price to pay for good service. Small town dealers are very sensitive about folks who go to the city to buy their car. I'm happy with my dealer, they treat me right, and I want to keep it that way.

I will miss the Prowler. Ever since I saw the roadster in the 'Shaggy Dog' movie when I was in grade school, I wanted a hot rod. After high school, I was building a 31 five window coupe when Uncle Sam wanted me to go to a place called Viet Nam. My dad sold the car for me while I was over seas. The Prowler was my hot rod - finally! I love the car and really enjoyed it. I got to join up with a club meet in Death Valley, I had it in a car show, I had it on the drag strip, it was on a calendar, and I met many awful nice people with the car. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Prowler. I feel fortunate to have owned one of the most beautiful cars in the world.

But, I drive the car daily. The hope of a higher price for the car does not apply to a daily driver, for when the price goes up a daily driver will be well worn. The best price is right now for me. By subtracting the trade in from the purchase price divided by the number of months I had the car, it only cost about $136/month to own the car. This of course doesn't include vaporized money like interest.

The car had a little over 7200 miles on it and has had its share of problems - doors re-adjusted, rear view mirror replaced, hub caps, ball joints, mode switch for radio on steering wheel doesn't work, etc. Friday on the way home from work I had a check engine light come on, when checking under the hood for a problem the hood fell on my head -again. It fell on my hand the last time I waxed it. The next day I traded. I don't know how well the car would hold up in the long run. After making the deal, I was scraping the sticker that lets me into work off the windshield and I noticed a bubble in the flat black area under the windshield. I touched the bubble and water ran out and I had a chunk of flat black paint on my finger.

As a daily driver, the lack of room becomes a real problem when you need to go to the store for something - no room - have to go home and get the pick-up truck. At a store, you are afraid to leave the car - it attracts just too much attention. Most people just look and admire, but what if a nasty came along?

I love the Prowler, but I think the Crossfire will work out much better for me. And it is peppy, too! I bought the 6-speed and it is fun to drive. It also has a bunch of people things to add to the comfort. It has the electronics for braking and skid control that the Prowler should have had.

Wil: The Prowler is quicker than the Crossfire, but the Crossfire is faster. My best time at the dragstrip was 14.9 seconds and 92 MPH with the Prowler. Car and Drivers test of the Crossfire had a 14.8 sec. and 96 MPH. Pretty close! The Prowler (as I'm told) becomes very loose at 130 MPH. Car and Driver had the Crossfire to 151 MPH. The Crossfire will corner a little better than the Prowler. The brakes feel much better in the Crossfire, although I don't remember the stopping distance for the Prowler, so I can't say which is shorter. (click here for Car and Driver test results)

While I love the Prowler and will always have fond memories of it, I really like driving the Crossfire.
