| DublinOH | This came up of Facebook. I've been around since 2000 and I don't know anyone who has had the timing belt fail. Who here knows personally ( no gossip) someone who has had a belt fail? Looking for verifiable data. That said, I changed the belt in my highboy last year when I had the motor out - figured it would be EASY that way. Still have a 99 with 45,000 miles on it and a 02 with 35,000 to do. 1-2-3- GO! |

| garysss | Same here Steve, I never heard of one breaking on a Prowler. I'm not saying it can't or won't happen as the Prowler keeps getting older. If water pump needs replacing I will definitely replace timing belt while I'm in there. A oil or antifreeze leak on belt could damage belt. |
| padroo | I watched several YouTube videos on 3.5 timing belts. The one guy I think was a professional mechanic said the week spot was the timing belt tensioner. He said the bearing go bad and then the car jumps time. |

| Prowlerjay31 | Same predicament here with my newly acquired 2000 Prowler. As the 3rd owner I am not sure if it had ever been completed. I doubt it has been since the car only has 22k miles. I have searched this site quite a bit and have not heard of any failing, but as they get older the chances only go up. I want to get it done, just trying to see if it痴 something I feel like trying to tackle myself. |

| TLRandall | The Silver with the M&L Delivery Top has over 100,000 miles on it. I did not want to do this major project with a pristine car, and this car was far from pristine! I have the parts on hand to have the timing belt and water pump done and I知 probably going to send it over to the dealer once the fabricator finishes the rear liftgate. After that, it値l go back to the fabricator for paint. |

I would suggest making the effort to install the stock deck lid on the car before it goes to the shop for mechanical work if the M&L Top is still in primer. If the car that unique goes to the shop in primer, it is almost guaranteed to return with greasy hand prints all over it and that could be problematic for the paint work. JMO |
