SnapCase | Changing how the tranny shifts is all in the TCM programming right? (Im going on the logic that other cars use the 42LE tranny as well and have considerably smooth shifting) Well the prowler is not my speed toy but it is my daily driver. So i was wondering if it is possible to have the TCM reprogrammed with lets say the 300M's program thus making it a smoother shifting tranny. Does smoother shifts mean longevity? or will it increase tranny wear? thanks JAson

JUST JP | Jason, I would talk to your Prowler tech. You might get the best answer there.------------------ 2000 Black Kat "self-proclaimed" poorest Prowler owner mods: 1) ceramic pads 2) Bill's 2.1 intake with EGR bypass 3) "cracked ice" shimmers 4)40,000+ (s)miles

ed monahan | jason, I am no expert but it is my understanding that the smoother the shift, the greater the wear. It would be like slipping the clutch a little to make it smooth. I am sure there will be more posts on this. |
Tony Goertz | SnapCase - try this - I can not guarantee a change but... Disconnect power to the TCM or disconnect battery. After you reconnect, the TCM is supposed to "learn" your driving style and operate the transmission accordingly. Baby the car for the next few days, no racing. If the car was pushed hard when it was new (by anyone), it may have learned a more aggressive shifting pattern. Let use know if this makes a difference... |
