SlvrY2KI've been searching for a way to increase the sound quality of my stereo, but have run across the same obstacles that everyone else has faced...NO ROOM!! Well, I ran across this device that promises huge sound, requiring little space, sound equivalent to a 12" subwoofer, and less expensive. Let me know if anyone has installed one yet....http://www.thebuttkicker.com/car_audio/index.htm.

Thanks!!

Gary HeathActually there is no appreciable sound from these.
They are electro-mechanical transducers that add a tactile input to your body that is representative of the low frequencies of the sound being reproduced by your audio system.
Basically a high powered voice coil that is coupled to your seat instead of a speaker cone.
They work 'very' well in a home theater application to reproduce the LFE (low freq. effects) channel in 5.1 and 7.1 systems, and I have no reason to believe they wouldn't be as awesome in a car with the proper crossover, but IMO you do still want a regular woofer to produce the low end audio of the music.
Jay Z KatI installed a 12 inch kicker subwoofer on the passenger side footwell in a box. also in a few weeks i'm having installed 2 6 inch speakers in a fiberglass box between the seats, i also have a 1000 watt amp and a pioneer single disc player, if you are looking for sound get a new radio.

Jay Z KatNo pics haven't learned that yet.
d'niroI replaced the stock sub with Pioneer Premier TS-SW841D
8" 500W 4-Ohm Shallow Mount Subwoofer (2ea) one behind pass. and driver seat, sound very good and you can feel the bass on the back rest, it doesn't take up much room - about 2 - 3 inch.

Paul BI have placed a FOCAL 8" sub in my car with good results. I had the glovebox removed and built a custom enclosure for it. Then we recovered the box with the same leather from the rest of the interior and installed it. Cross overs and a single chanel amp were placed under the seats. Its clean, invisible basically and gives quite a punch to the system. heres a picture of the install.
