mdavidjensen | I was told by the Dealer that the Shift Knob is made to shift from Drive to Neutral without pressing the unlock button. Is this true or are they just trying not to repair the shifter? I would think this would be dangerous to the engine to shift from drive to neutral while the engine is racing. M. David Jensen |
BradleyG | Hi David, I just checked all 3 of my cars.. 03 CTS, 02 PT Cruiser and 01 Prowler. They all go from drive to neutral without pushing the button. (Yes, it is pretty cool tonight in Dallas, even in the garage).I guess the key to not over reving the engine is to not push the gear selector past D when the petal is to the metal. I believe it is normal, but I'm not sure... I bet that one of the "much smarter than me" people will post a more technical reason. BTW, I think your next post will make you a "Junkie". Mine did when I passed 20 posts. This message has been edited by BradleyG on 02-25-2005 at 12:23 AM |
Orange | Most cars do that...... all of the ones I've driven anyway... I think it's a safety feature. |
