Can any one recommend seat covers for our Prowler? It's starting to get warm down here in southern Fla. and the seats get HOT. Conventional seat covers do NOT work because in the Prowler the seat belts are integrated into the seats.

WPGI kept seat covers on mine for the first year and a half. I was able to find some that match pretty close to the interior color.

I do not remember the name of the company that makes them, but I will try to find out. As for the seat belts being integrated, the headrests pop out very easily, so that they, along with the seat belt holder, can be removed from the seat. This allows for a seat cover to be placed over top of the seat itself. The seat covers I had had openings in the top which allowed me to to put the seat top hoops back on. I will try to find out who makes the seat covers and post back here.

I also wanted to add that the seat cover protected the seats very well and after a year and a half and about 28,000 miles, the seats looked almost new, with almost no wrinkles. For the past year and a half that I have left them off, the leather has started to wrinkle on the driver's seat bottom.

pumpkinWe put sheepskins on all our all cars, well not the Honda S2000. They feel nice, warm in the winter, cool in the summer. The kat loves them, see her getting dressed. http://users.zianet.com/SLlover/page60a5.html

"I may have to grow older, but I do not have to grow up!"

robbiebWow! I ordered a pair of the sheepskin seat covers from Sheepskin Express. I ordered them off of their website for $249. I considered myself a bit of an idiot to pay that much for a set of seat covers, but I did it anyway. Well, today I got an email from Chad at Sheepskin Express...he told me that they had just updated their web site and I shouldn't have been able to order the seat covers for only $249: "due the sporty contours of the seats and bolted-on headrests"
And that now Prowler owners can only order the "Tailor Made" seat covers that are $419!!!! But he wanted to give me a "good deal" and was willing to sell them to me for only $349!!!!
I was flabbergasted! Most things that I order online don't show up on my online statement until they ship...but these guys hit my card instantly for $249. And now they want to raise the price due to the "sporty contours". I told him to please credit that money back to my card, and I'm hoping that will be done as quickly as they took the money in the first place.
I was born in the day...but not yesterday. My feeling is they are trying to take advantage of Prowler owners. I don't know how much a sheep costs, but a set of seat covers aren't worth $249 unless they are made of gold. And they damn sure aren't worth $419!
So does anyone know where to get some good seat covers that make sense for our Prowlers? I just don't want to peel my skin off the seat in the summer when the top's down! The ones that Bill Gallagher has found look great! Hey Bill, did you remember where you got them from yet?
robbiebWanted to make sure to set the record straight on my experience with Sheepskin Express:
In my last post I stated that they had hit my card for the $249. Well, that's not exactly correct. I just checked my online statement and what I had saw was $249 deducted in "Pending Transactions"
It never went to "Posted Transactions" so they did not take my money as I had thought at first.
But I still need to find some good, sensible seat covers.
ALLEY CATJust to update info on the above post by Robb:

I bought my skins from SheepSkinExpress nearly two years ago. Paid around $250, as I recall. Excellent quality and fit, and I found them good to do business with. Remember, that was two years ago, so maybe prices have gone up???

I paid $475 for my skins for the '96 Vette I owned, from a local Phx company, and they were not half the quality I got from SSEXpress. JMO

We purchased (from Sheepskin Express) our set for the Prowler about a year ago and at that time had an option to go with their custom or tailor made. We went with the tailor made because they are made specifically for the car versus the custom which is an approximate cut and then tweaked to fit the seat. We are extremely happy with the tailor made and feel the price was reasonable. We purchased sheepskins for several of our other cars and all prices were in the $300 to $500 range. The real stuff ain't cheap ! ! ! ! You can tell the difference between the sheepskin or something you pick up at Wal-Mart. Sheepskins are not just seatcovers.

All Kats should have expensive fur

FL PhilContact Kevin Watson. He can get seat covers and they match the interior color and are comfortable with the top on of off. His email is industrialab@earthlink.net.
I'll post a picture of the seat covers this weekend as soon as it stops raining around here.
CatwomanPhil...what a timely reply! I prefer the covers Kevin has to the sheepskins myself - they look great.

Thanks for Kevin's email....I'm sending him a note.

Mike KrehelI received this email and picture today and thought this may be of interest.

Hi Mike, I am kind of new to this but I have had made out of some very hight grade material, seat covers for my 2002 silver Prowler. I couldn't take the heat on my seats here in sunny Florida and it was hard on the leather being out in the sun, 12 months of sunshine! So, we designed with velco to fit around the headrest and seat belts and cut and sewn around the seat adjustment. The color is very close to our leater , the material is washable. I love mine , so I have deceided to put them on the market. What would you suggest, I do next. I even had a piece to fit over the arm rest ..aka..glove box, to match. I'll look forward to hearing back from you with you suggestions. Happy to be with Prowler owners... sandy

Richard JacksonAs my son says, "Back in the Day", which means the 70's, VW convertible beetle owners had a seat cover that slipped over the seat easily and was called a t-shirt seat cover. It was made from t-shirt cotton material and was white with different silk screening. Very comfortable and easy to install, remove, wash and reinstall. Kept the vinyl seats cool to the touch. Anything this easy and cheap for those summer hot days?

The ones that Bill Gallagher has found look great! Hey Bill, did you remember where you got them from yet?

Actually, while driving by today, I remembered that I had bought them from Pep Boys. If I remember correctly, I paid about $50 for each seat cover. They are a generic cover for a sport seat but surprisingly fit tight and closely match the gray interior color. I will try to find out who makes them and see if I can get a part number.

robbieb50 bucks! Now that sounds more like it. They are just seat covers after all! And if they look good and fit good...that's tremendous! I know that everybody who has the $419 sheepskins love them...but heck I bought a pair of leather seats brand new from Cobra for my MG for $595 for the pair! That's the whole seat and frame! Maybe I'm just old school but seat covers are something that you throw on for the summer and chunk in the garbage in the fall and buy a new set the next summer! But that's just me....I'm on my way to Pep Boys! Thanks Bill!
spoonsRob,

I agree... $50 is more like it. Bill looking forward to your info.

WPGI went to see what I could find out. There is a company called Axius that makes identical seat covers. I do not think this is the same company that made mine, but the covers look identical. However, their gray color that I saw is not even close to the gray interior of the Prowler. The gray I bought was almost identical. The gray I saw is almost a tan-like color. They do have a website at http://www.axius.com. (To get past all the opening animation crap and go straight to the seat covers click HERE ) You may be able to get more info there.
WPGWhile at a different Pep Boys today, I saw that the company Axius also makes the seat covers in the gray color that is like the ones I put in mine. They however didnt have any of the sport bucket seat covers in this color. The price was $39.99 per seat cover.
CJBrian.........

I am forwarding to you an email that I received yesterday from a Prowler owner who wants to offer custom Prowler seat covers to the owners on the site. I don't know if he has registered to post yet, but the email contains pictures, also. You might want to contact him. He also lives in Florida.
