| Zapcopd | I had a strange intermitant buzzing noise from my right side dash speaker. It didn't sound like a blown speaker but I wanted to upgrade so I replaced them anyway. Kept my fingers crossed that the new speaker would solve the problem. The noise however came back. The buzz does not get louder when the music is made louder so you can drown it out by turning up the volume. I don't know if it's the radio or the amp. Any suggestions? |

Mine is doing the same thing. I'm thinking its a bad ground. Anyone here know how to fix it? |

If its a ground , could be hard to find |
| Zapcopd | I've noticed that when it's acting up the noise stops when the engine is shut off and restarted. |
| catfish | if its the ground,you will have to pull the radio out to ck.it.the ground is on the back of the radio.i would clean all the grounds,theres 6 in the frt.and 2 in the rear.dont forget the neg cable ground.dont over tighten or you will strip the hole. ------------------

| Zapcopd | If it was the ground, I would think that the noise would be coming from more than one speaker. |
| catfish | since you replaced the speaker,its most likely from the radio,since its still there,or its a possible ground problem.could also from the engine electrical.move the balance switch on the radio from rt to left and frt to rr.and see if it goes away.--------------

| Hunnicuttz | On my car it is only when the engine is running. It does not make that noise when the key is in the on position. |
| idive | I'll bet the sound increases with rpm's. Chrysler is aware of the issue. It's also happening on their Vipers. They'll never do anything about tracking it down, but they'll be more than happy to charge you to look into it. It'll come and go. |
| Zapcopd | No change with RPM. Not your typical ignition interference noise. The noise is intermittent and it does not change with the volume. Only from right front dash speaker which has been replaced. Seems to go away for a short time if the engine is shut off and restarted. I don't mind replacing the radio but I would hate to spend the $ and find its the amp or something else. I appreciate everyone's input. Maybe if one of us figures it out we can save the others a lot of guess work.

| dskatt | I have the same problem but the sound comes from the rear speakers. It comes and goes but the odd thing is when it's happening the sound will quit if I put the transmission in reverse or second gear. When I put it in any other gear the hum returns. |
| CJ | I know that this might sound really weird, but whenever my cell phone is too close to the speakers (like in my purse on the floor) I get a intermittent buzzing sound (feedback) through the speaker.  |

I had the same annoying problem and fixed it two years ago by cleaning the grounds at the front, rear, and cleaning the contacts behind the radio. Started acting up last weekend the same way again (no noise in second gear) but cleared up. Looks like it is time to clean grounds again,

and cleaned it up and I will see if this helps.remember to put some WD40 on the screws in the amp, the night before so they come out without snaping. |

| Zapcopd | Took the car out for a drive today and it didn't do the noise at all. I guess I will ignore it unless it gets worse. Found a new problem. CD player has a mind of its own. Jumps to the next song whenever it feels like it. The joys of owning an old car. |

| Zapcopd | Over one year later and I think I solved the speaker noise problem. First I tried disconnecting the right side dash speaker because I thought the noise was only coming from there. I figured that I could do without one speaker if I eliminated the noise. No such luck. Soon found out that the noise was also coming from the door speaker. Didn't realize it before because the noise is much worse from the dash speaker. Reconnected the speaker and slid the radio out. Unplugged and plugged the connections a few times on the back of the radio. Put it all back together and its been a few weeks without the noise. I would have never imagined the fix being that simple. Could it actually have been just a bad connection? Unfortunately I don't think everyone above has the same problem. Many of the symptoms listed above we're different from what I had.
