The Prowler Store sells them for $ 945.95 and claims their rad. is the ONLY one that truly fits.
That statement may be true as the Spectra 1904 does not fit but can be retrofitted for about $ 100 by a good radiator shop that can weld aluminum.
They can be bought for $194.43 so if you have to put $ 100 in upgrades you are still at about $ 300.I am THINKING about buying 4 or 5 of them and having them adjusted to fit the car. I am not looking to make a living by doing this but I would mark them up for my troubles.
The question is, Is anyone interested, would anyone like to get one to have on the shelf, just in case? I own 3 Prowlers but one is a '97 and they are slightly diff., I THINK.
I am basically thinking out loud, putting out feelers.

| ed monahan | The lower hose outlet is angled wrong (by about 45 degrees) and it is about 1/2" too large. Therefore it needs to be replaced. There are two rods that get inserted and they are in the wrong place and are slightly too large. They MAY be threaded, I am not positive about that. The entire radiator is about 1/2 - 1 inch shorter, making it difficult to install the fan. I have never taken out a radiator so I am not positive if all of that is absolutely correct, but I THINK it is. I am waiting for more info and some pictures.
Also, the 97 is slightly different so there is quite a bit of tweaking that would need to be done.
The bleeder valve on top is a good idea.
This is still in the very early planning stages. There seems to be quite a bit of interest so that might make it worthwhile. |

I remember Catfish said aluminum radiators will not hold up in a Prowler.

| ed monahan | If you google the Spectra 1904 the prices are all over the place and the pictures don't match up, which adds to the confusion.
It might be a daunting task to get to the bottom of it, but I think it needs to be done since the cars are 17-22 years old and some are starting to fail. I hate to take mine out to look at them so hopefully I will get all the info eventually. |

| Tom Mills | Ed I believe that a custom aluminum radiator can be built and would be an exact drop in. I had one made for my Studebaker from a drawing I made complete with a shroud. If there would be more than one I think it might even be affordable. www.afcoracing.com
As far as aluminum not working in a Prowler I think I would worry about that for maybe 6 seconds. They sure seem to work in hot rods of all kinds and I am sure a lot of them are more flexible that our Prowlers. JMO |

Apparently they are all reading what the company that produces the radiator is putting out. They don't have a Prowler to see it doesn't work. That is the main problem. |

Pricey? Yes,,,but maybe a good choice for a drop-in replacement... without adjustments to 'inlet/outlet ports' and worrying about doing the replacement more than once..JMO

| ed monahan | I tried a local, small shop today. He informed me that there are two types of radiators. I am presuming the 97s have the old type, metal core and the newer ones have the plastic and rubber set up.
He referred me to a larger company and they told me that they can't find anything. She asked me to get an OEM number and call her back.
