WildBill | Pete Munson's mother fell and broke her hip and shoulder last night and was scheduled for surgery at 3:30pm today, but now has been changed to tomorrow. She is 94 years young and maybe 100 lbs, so it is an extremely-extremely risky surgery. I kindly ask you for your thoughts and prayers for her and the Munson Family. She & Mr. Munson have become a part of the Prowler Family since Pete's passing on Nov. 28th of last year and always supported Pete and his love for cars. Especially with Pete's love of the Prowler; and they have held the members of the ECP and the POA in their hearts ever since. WildBill +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ TUESDAY Update I am very happy to report that Mrs. Munson made it out of surgery tonight and the Doctors are pleased that she has come out of the anesthesia well. When they went in they found that she broke the Femoral Head (the ball of the end of the femur that goes into the ball joint socket. They fixed it and were done in about an hour. She has a long road ahead with her recovery and physical therapy, but she has pulled through like a trooper. There was A LOT going on today in the Munson household and belive me, this has been an epic sigh of relief. Today when I went to see Mr. Munson at their assisted living home, Mr Munson surprised us as he wore on of his USMC jackets and hats and was ful of emotion. (In case you didn't know, today, November 10th, is the US MARINE CORPS Birthday) Mr. Munson was in the USMC First Battalion at Guadalcanal. He is truly an amazing person with amazing stories. We brought him a cake with "Happy Birthday USMC" written on it and did the traditional "oldest Marine in the room cuts the cake first followed by the youngest making the second slice. Our very own ECP Member Doug had that honor. After the ceremony he was ready to go to the hospital to be with Mrs. Munson before her risky surgery. He wanted to take off his uniform, but we talked him into leaving it on as to inspire Mrs. Munson who is also very proud of the MARINE Heritage. Mrs. Munson was a Nurse in the the NAVY during WWII, and what I have been able to gather from the many stories and conversations over the past year when ever I go to visit them; I think that is where they met.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. They are working, but please keep them coming. As John said, it's a tougher battle after somone breaks a hip. I too have seen it too many times. You're right Nick! Pete's all over this one. I can't even begin to explain what has transpired in the past couple of days. I have shared many of these posts with Maryann and she is still awstruck how this family just pulls together in a crisis and how we can be there for each other. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
