------------------ Hope it's no that bad and you can solve your problem. This message has been edited by phil2237 on 03-24-2011 at 11:04 AM ------------------ You also might want to go to a Bearing Company in the Denver area, Check to see if a more heavier rated bearing that might be available or to have one made, They are not that expensive to have made. This message has been edited by phil2237 on 04-28-2011 at 10:52 PM royreed86 Got a noise in the transaxel, sounds like a brake drum with a worn-out shoe. Louder under torque. Emanates from the front of the unit . I thought it might be the carrier bearing (which I replaced when I did the engine swap) , but checked the oil level in that seperate init and it's full. Any ideas???
Heminutcatfish sounds like you need to put in the air and diagnois it.could be many things causing the noise.dont think its the brakes or rotor.doing it under torque, its something else. Marty Usher Roy - unfortunately the transaxle is a weak link when putting more power in the Prowler engine bay. I had my transaxle rebuilt with beefier parts and added a torque convertor when I went with the 3rd stroker motor. Whatever they did then seemed to work well. I had over 100 rear wheel horsepower over stock adn it lasted about 60,000 miles. When I get home I'll see if I can find the paperwork with a list of parts if you get to the point you need to rebuild the transaxle. phil2237 Roy, Are you going to try to bring it tommorrow to tech day ????? We can take a look at it if you can make it. Is it safe to drive ? royreed86 Yeah, I am a brave one or maybe it's something else. am going to tech day. U guys can see if your hearing the same thing.
Thx for the quick response.

PS. Been making this racket since the Paslm Spgs terip.phil2237 After 2 Beers tommorrow you won't hear a thing ! royreed86 Thx Phil. Had 3 and it's still there. padroo Buy more Beer! al@alshotrodgarage Hey Roy, I bet that if you asked the guy that built the car for you he might have an answer! Thanks. phil2237 Sounded like the pinion bearing has a slight wine. We checked it out on tech day, found no play in the drive shaft at all. Has a whine right at the front of the transaxle. al@alshotrodgarage When I did the Hemi conversion I had to move the transaxel to the pass side about 5/8'' to compensate for engine offset. As you know, since there are no u-joints, the alignment between engine and transaxel must be perfect. The centerline was lasered in. I did not do the replacement of the bearings ,another shop did. What probably happened was either the bearings were not properly preloaded or the transaxel was not re-aligned properly. thanks, Al. phil2237 I thought about the preload, but have no play in the driveline to show its not tight. He is taking it out next weekend, will check a little farther into it. Having the whine, I was expecting to see excess backlash in the driveshaft, which was not there. What leads me to believe its the pinion bearing , It has the whine just sitting there at a stop with no torque to the drivetrain. Its not that loud, but is noticable. I checked all the support arms to make sure he did not twist any mounts . Everything looked good. He is bringing it back to Colorado in the next few weeks, maybe they could recheck the alignment. as the car sure has alot of torque. royreed86 All I'm getting is up the torque and the tranny won't hold up. What did the guy do that had the " world record 11:15 or so et do to his???
Heminutroyreed86 Got home to Denver, put it in the air, pulled an old fashioned string line front to back, front center of crank was 13 1/2", center of crank at rear was 13", input shaft at front of transaxel 13", rear alignment of trans 13". I think the u-joint drive-shaft idea would have allowed for the 1/2" differance in the engine alignment but it created to much downforce on the pinion for the small bearing to handle. I'm in the process of replacing the pinion bearing (which was galled bad) and trying the U-joint drive-shaft again with the fresh bearing. If that doesn't work, I will have to go back to the original drive-shaft and re-align the engine to be perfectly straight with the other drive-train componants. Either way it won't be a big deal. Really anxious to go racing at Bandimere's "Mopars at Thunder Mtn." the 15th. We'll see if it holds up. Still loving my Hemi. Sound alone is worth it. The 5 liter v/6 is having ring problems and smoking. Jorden is trying to be ready also.

PS. As soon as learn how to post a pic, get ready for the most beautiful Prowler picture worldwide. KILLERALLEY CAT Roy, how did the hemi cat run at the Mopar drag meet in Las Vegas recently? catfish being a halfinch off will cause some abnormal wear, hope thats the problem.good luck. phil2237 Roy , See if they can install a Constant Velocity joint in the rear, It will take out a lot of vibration. royreed86 Had the tranny out of it in Vegas. Was just showing off. Should have it back together this week.
RR Heminut royreed86 Me and freind Jerry Price got it put in Castlerock. Took the pinion bearing housing in for replacement, went back to the standard original rear gear. Now I can get through the 1/4 without going to 4th. Not near as quick of the line thopugh. Put the driveshaft with the u-joibnts in it but have a small vibration. Next move, take the driveshaft back out and have it balanced again to be sure. I think were getting there now.
