tom112	OK, it's time to have my new tires mounted. Any thing that I should look for and questions that I should ask about finding a place to mount and balance them. I do not want my wheels scratched up. Is a dealer the best place ? This is my first time to deal with run flats and chrome wheels. Hope this if the correct place to post this question. I have seen people get blasted for posting in the wrong place. thanks tom
catfish	shop around,if thats possible in your area.either discount tire-tire pros-or a major tire/wheel dealer in your area.ask if they have the correct equipment to do 17s and 20s.also let them know about the sensors inside.ck.them yourself before installing new tires.ck.for damage when done before they put them back on car.make sure they use a torque wrench,not a impact wrench to tighten.also ask some friends where they get theres done. ------------------

alrtg	Accorcing to the 2000 service manual page 22-27 removal and installation (fig.11) Once completed, Tighten the wheel mounting nuts to a final torque of 135 N-m (100 ft. lbs) I hope this helps, also remember that you need to follow the proper sequence when tightening the lug nuts. This is also outlined at the same place in the service manual.
idive	Discount Tire should be fine. They do lots of vette wheels with sensors. Take pics before just in case any damage occurs you have proof they did it. You should be fine tho. Dealers do not have tire busting equipment. They send them out to be done and you never know where they send them to.
tom112	Thanks guys. You know after thinking about it, I believe that I'll remove them at home and just take them to be mounted and balanced. That way I can be sure my part is done correctly. thanks again for the info. tom
ed monahan	Recently the local Tire Discounters told me that it is a company wide policy to NOT mount tires not purchased from them. They wouldn't do it and sent me to a competitor. That store did not have the equipment and sent me to a diff. location nearby and they did it for me. I doubt if most dealerships have the proper equipment. They don't normally deal with bling bling wheels so you are better off going to a tire store in my humble opinion.
EdsCat	Last 2 times I had Discount Tire put on tires they broke studs off the wheels. 2 on the front left first time, and 3 different ones last time. They made it right by having them replaced, but i believe it was because they used the impact wrench. They get the lug nut cross-threaded, and give it the juice. Torque wrench is exactly what they need to use. From my experiences, I agree - tell them not to use impact wrench if you have them do it at all... ------------------ [
dskatt	Years ago I was part owner of a tire shop. It's my experience that the quality of the install is only as good as the man doing the work. Proper equipment is important also, you don't want just a pry bar and a hammer. Talk to the manager of the shop and also the guy on the wrench. You will get a feel for there concern about doing a good job.The previous post about pictures is a good one, just in case.

tom112	Found a place that will mount and balance for $50 per tire. Does that sound reasonable ? tom
ed monahan	That is more than I paid. I don't recall exactly what I paid but I thought it was around $ 30 per tire. I know it was not over $ 40. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I just did a search. I paid $ 30 each. alrtg	Just keep in mind that while $50.00 per tire sounds expensive, it would have been a bargain if the other guy damaged something and all you get is an apology along with the invoice. Look at the tire machine and or ask them if the machine or any tools actually comes in contact with the edge of the wheel at any time. If the answer is YES, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Ask if they will guarantee Damage free mounting (Not free Damage)and if any occurs, will they have it repaired to YOUR satisfaction. Typically the higher end shops will have the better tire machines.
David Veu Casovic	I had my Foose Rims shipped from Wheels for less and the tires shipped from tire rack to my house. I had Discount Tire in Ormond Beach mount and balanced them. The front two tires were $6.00 each and the rear were $10.00 each to mount. The computer ride match balance was $25.00 each, which I thought was a good price.
catfish	tom,one thing i forgot,was make sure there equipment is pretty new,ie,make sure where the machine contacts the inside of wheel has rubber pads on it,so it doesnt leave marks on inside of wheels. ------------------
