Killian	Hello all my fellow Prowler enthusiasts. I would like to tap the knowledge of the collective community to see what would be the most recommended route for putting a more powerful engine in my Prowler. I have recently been lucky with investments and have the money to give my Prowler the love it deserves. I have seen many modifications, many videos and many posts but, I am new to anything like this. I live in Florida, if that is helpful, if there are any custom shops you would recommend. I am also looking to redo the interior, bodywork, etc. I know it is a lot to ask but, this is where the most knowledgeable people are so, thank you in advance for any help you can give. Killian
WildCat	Depending on what you want to spend The green Hemi high boy was built in Florida Bob Longstreth would be the guy to find out more about this one John Collins in Denver has done a couple of 5.0 strokers, think Terry in Florida has one and Jerry Wilson.
Terry	Yes, John Collins "saved" my Prowler from Grand Junction. He was a godsend. My motor is what is known as a 5.0, but it is a calculated 4.86 liters.
onecatnodog	My Good Friend Ed that has passed away God Rest His Sole lived in Florida and his son has the car now and was thinking of selling it.. I did a stroker engine for it and the Stroker Engine has only about 3,000 miles on it Ed's engine has a special intake that goes threw the hood along with a lot of other great improvements to the car.. Buy his old car and take off what you like and put it on your Prowler including the stroker engine.. Then put the stuff from your car on it replacing what you used and sell it.. Just a thought.. phil2237	If you do decide to change to a different engine, make sure you keep the old one, as years go buy and hopefully the Prowler could one day be a collector car, the original engine with matching numbers will be a plus when talking money. All these old cars you see going thru auctions are worth a TON more in money with matching numbers and that includes the transmission. Just to give you an example, A 1969 SS Camaro with a engine that has been changed out ( Pro touring ) would go for 30 to 35 thousand. That same Camaro with the ORIGINAL engine & Transmission would kick the price up to the 50 to 60 thousand range This message has been edited by phil2237 on 01-26-2017 at 07:55 PM
Killian	Thank you guys. I had a few people contact me, and there is great info here. I am friends with Jim Dunbrack who also told me about Detroit Muscle Speed Shop (who did the Green Prowler) down here in Lakeland FL, not far from where I live. I called them yesterday and in a few weeks, I am going to head over for them to look at my Prowler and quote prices. Thank you for all the help! Killian

RPL	Westech in Silver Lake, Wisconsin. Still offers stroker engines for Prowler. They did the 5.0 V-6 in Mike Krehel's car that is scary fast. They offer dyno tuned, turn key installations in a couple of displacements. That way you know that everything is as it should be before you pick up your car of they ship it.

Killian Really only a few ways to get a lot of performance. Nitrous Oxide, larger Cu. In. , Boost ( Turbo or supercharger) Larger C.I. would be the most reliable. N.O. can blow an engine in seconds , Boost will work reliably if you don't go over board. Going to a big V8 is impressive but you can never really enjoy it because of the weakness of the rear end set up. If you really get on it I'd guess you'd hear a BOOM in the rear of the car. Prowlers are cruisers. 94mph in a quarter mile is plenty to enjoy the car. If you want performance the best buy is a Corvette. German cars are to expensive to maintain. Fords just don't run very well unless you have a really expensive model. Gort	Check this Prowler with V8. I don't understand how the V8 could be that low in the engine compartment. The hood is stock. It must be a side oiler like a GS Vette or 427 Cobra. mslc10	If I were to do a swap I'd go for the smaller 4.7 or what was in the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee . It had plenty of power and the v8 rumble that we all want but still not outrageous in size . Killian Another thought Tony Goertz has a 5.7 Hemi in one car and is building another. I rode in it and it is impressive. He is a great guy and very helpful with everyone. If interested in a DIY project he might be the go to guy for help. He doesn't post much but does every once in awhile.
phil2237	Just remember one thing about the larger & more powerful engines. The rear transaxle does not hold up well with more power. (JMO), leave the engine the way it is and just enjoy the car. If you want more power or speed, buy a car that can and will take the torque of more horses under the hood like several members posted here. The Prowler gets the looks no other car on the road gets.
Tony Goertz	Hemi is a GREAT way to go. I first had a Supercharger for several years. When timing belt jumped and destroyed the engine, my wife says " weigh your options, and put in a Hemi". It took me 15 seconds to start working on it! I bought a 4.7 Hemi. Quickly learned that the 4.7 is physically larger than the 5.7 ( or 6.1) and is not suited to fit in engine bay. Neither is the 5.7 "truck" style that has been used in a few Prowlers. I put in a 2008 5.7. That was in 2011. We now have over 12000 miles on this set up. Car runs GREAT! lots of torque. Last trip to Nursing Home National, cruised for 6 hours at 80 mph smiling all the way. On weekends, locally, we cruise 40 - 60 mph. Everything fits under the hood. I do cut out about 1.5 sq inch of a frame webbing. Every system has been researched and is custom. There do exist a lot of different Mopar pieces that make the job easier. There are also a lot of pieces and methods that should NOT be used. I have seen frames cut and modified, bodies cut, driveshafts cut, hoods cut etc. Some pretty messy jobs. Computers and wiring kits are readily available for Hemi conversions. It's easy to make a Hemi engine run !! To integrate it with the rest of a Prowler is a completely different story. I give the transmission some credit. I have seen them being abused for years. Who doesn't drive the Prowler with the peddle to the floor - in all the gears? How many try burn outs? How many Concords, 300Ms etc survived using the same transmission. Yes, I'm sure I can quickly ruin a transmission with the Hemi. I can also quickly burn out a manual clutch by Power Shifting. All modern cars use some form of torque management to protect the drive line. Part of integrating the computers is to include this feature. And, there are even some performance parts to beef it up. Hemi Prowlers are great Fun to drive, and the look awesome !! 6.1 in Process
Marty Usher	To follow up on Bob's (RPL) comment about Westech...I had their 4.3 litre V6 bored/stroked engine and never lost a race at the drag strip to any of the supercharged Prowlers I raced. The rear transaxle/transmission was "beefed" up at the same time and I put almost 60K miles on that combo before I sold it.
treyb	This may surprise folks but here is my humble opinion sitting here now in 2017 after like 15 years of ownership. Having one of the most published documented and working hemi swaps and the 2 years it took to build it I would say enjoy it as it is. Most of power options are gone. You can do one but it's a real chore. There is so many muscle car and sports car options to go fast these days. Let everyone stare at in the very cool prowler save 30-40k and get a fast car for the track with a warenty. I'm very happy but also very lucky! There is a reason you don't see so many done well and around for years to talk about it! One mans journey 2 year journey for a go fast dream.
