KrautIn 1979 I started the build of my first Prowler. OK so it wasn't quite a Prowler, but it was very similar in appearance. Actually, it was a Blakely Bearcat 'S' kit car. I couldn't afford a real sports car then (small kids at home), so I had to build my own. The dumbest thing I ever did was sell the car after having it for only five years. I sold it because I had to park my daily driver outside in the ice and snow, and got tired of scraping windows. Boy I wish I could undo that decision.

The Bearcat had a Boss 302 motor built to 325HP, and weighed in at a true 2050 pounds. It was almost impossible not to smoke the tires, and with open lake pipes it sounded like a NASCAR racer. With four on the floor, this car was a blast to drive, but only when the weather was nice. If I got caught in the rain, which I did a couple of times, it leaked like a sieve. Considerably smaller than the Prowler, it still had more trunk space, but lacked all the luxury interior amenities of today's cats.

My Prowler now fills the void left by the Bearcat and I didn't even have to build it. To be honest I like the Prowler better, but still miss the little hot rod. I've tried to find it several times since selling it in hopes of re-buying it, but to no avail. If anyone has seen it around, please let me know. I have heard it may in Cincinnati.

ed monahanKraut, I have never seen it at a car show, but that doesn't mean it isn't here. I will keep an eye out for it.
Richard saw his old Pick-Up at the Germantown Show, in August, so it is possible to find them.
Richard JacksonKraut, I know the feeling. I built a Meyers Manx (look-a-like) dune buggy with a VW drivetrain in the summers while going to college. I knew every bolt and nut on that car. I sold it for a mere $600.00, but the memories remain. Most of those were cold and wet though. LOL.

KrautIt's been gone for 17 years now, so I don't think I'll ever see it again. But thanks to both of you for keeping a lookout. Once it's in your head it'll pop right out to you, if you should happen to see it. At least it would to me.

Thanks again.

YellowFeverCan't you do a title search starting with the person you sold it too? (provided you remember their name).
Or if you have something with the serial number on it.

Check with your DPS, there probably is way to find it (and probably will cost a few bucks doing it too)

Duane CurtoKraut,
I think I found your car ! I was returning from Holly Michigan, driving through Texas and saw what looks like the car you once had. It is similiar. I'm going to try to attach the photo I've taken.
Duane
Duane CurtoI'll try again

KrautSorry Duane, that's not even close, but it's the thought that counts. Keep on looking, Kraut
