KurtisHello. Great forum you have going here. I just acquired my red 1999 last Friday. My only complaint thus far is with the flexible structure and wheel hop over rough roads (especially when braking). I have already puchased the front frame brace from IPS in Colorado because of what I read here. I noticed that a few of you have installed aftermarket wheels. I love the look of the stck Prowler units, but have to believe that they must weigh a ton. Has anyone compared their weight to a good billet or forged wheel? For those who installed new rims, did you notice a significant improvement in ride and acceleration from the lighter unsprung weight? I would think that one of the simplest ways to improve the Prowler's ride/acceleration would be to ditch the heavyweight wheels and Goodyear EMT's. Any comment on the affect of tires/wheels is appreciated.
ALLEY CATKurtis - didn't notice that much of a difference between the original wheels vs. the Budniks I have on. I'm sure going from EMT GY's to non-runflats will make the ride better.

Call 911 - there is a Prowler in my garage....

LARRY SALZMAN - MESA, ARIZONA

WPGWhen I switched my rear Goodyear runflats to Goodyear non-runflats, I think there was a weight reduction of about 10 lbs per tire.

Mike KrehelStock Wheels and Goodyear run flats are 47lbs for each front wheel and 70lbs for each rear wheel.
KurtisWow, 70lbs is certainly on the heavy side for those rears with RF's. Thanks for the info. Centerline makes some 20" that weigh in around 22lbs, but not sure if they have anything that fits the Prowler or is good enough looking - I'm checking. I've read that each one pound reduction in un-sprung weight is like removing 10lbs of static weight from a car.

BTW, Bill G., I love what you did with the stock grill. Where did you go to get the chrome accents? Also, was there nice red paint under those ugly black rear fender guards or did you have to re-paint?

That would be the Alley Cat Chrome Grill Treatment System,,,available to use by sending a $10 one-time, user fee to me. Patent rights apply

KurtisThe check's in the mail.....
KurtisBill G: When you say "about a 10lb weight reduction" are you serious? Do Run-flats weigh that much more than non-run-flats PER TIRE? If so, that would make a huge difference in ride and acceleration. I think I'm going to try a set of SP9000's from Dunlop with the stock rims and see how the ride improves.
Gary CIf you replace the stock tyres with the Dunlops you will save 32 lbs total, 12 for fronts and 20 for rears and a Way better ride.
