aoprowlerHelp! I only have 14,000 miles on my 2002 CAT and the dust seals on the 4 rear Lateral Links (ball joint type) are shot *#@% Does anyone know where to buy these seals? Also someone posted here that you can run these dry since they have nylon surrounding the bearing inside, if that the case maybe i can just remove the old seal & grease and re-install them dry.

George JohnsonYou can't replace just the rubber boots, and probably the bushings could be bad. Contact Bob Longstreth (RPL), he was selling the after market rear lateral links, which are a much better quality than the OEMs.

Are you referring to the links under the hood, near the front of the vehicle, close to the battery? Or the rear links viewable thru the spokes of the rear wheels? The rears, I believe, have bushings (rubber) that crack and deteriote causing them to skew and most likely clunk. RPL does have good quality replacements for the rears. The front Heim joints, under the hood, can be cleaned of any grease and ran dry. They have a nylon sleeve internal to the female cup. Not much movement occurs in the front units; it would most likely take a life time to 'wear them out'.

catfishin the frt,are you talking the frt.swaybar.there are no lateral links in the frt.if still available the 99 rr. links will work on the rr ,at way way less money,something like 36.00 each.

Catfish, I have 2002 that have the ball joint type lateral links (located in the rear) would rather not use earlier type (bushing type). I just need the dust/grease seals.

catfishthe 99 links will last just as long,if not longer than the
newer style,i have 135.000 miles on mine here in hot az,and they are still in great shape,choose your poison,you cannot buy parts for the links,you must buy the entire link,and yours are not cheap.your list price is around 550.00 each.x 4.whichever way you go adjust the new ones to match the length of the old ones or you will have to do a wheel alignment.

spoonsI don't think there are any of the 1997 & 1999 style rear lat links left in Mopar inventory. OEM links for 2000+ prowlers with cost you $2000+ for all four. Control Freak Suspensions makes and aftermarket set for around $600. You can buy the aftermarket rear lat links from Control Freaks or Bob (RPL). Its the same part and the same price.

ALSO THE CHRYSLER DEALER WHICH INSTALLET THE LINKS SAID THAT HARE THE BEST LINK'S HE EVER SEEN......

golfboyControl Freak lateral links and Spoons' VSLs make my Kat handle much better when going around curves at speed. I recommend both.

mslc10yessir . the wonder bar replaces the large thick "sway bar" in the pic I posted. you will still need the two thin rods "front stabilizer links".those can be replaced by the ones from member "spoons". The stock sway bar is solid vs. the wonder bar is essential a tube, allowing the suspension to "give" and not be so stiff in corners and going over rough roads. there have been Complaints of car just "changing lanes" as it hits a pot hole or such.The wonder bar is developed to cure that. Doing your homework you will find depending on what year seems to decide how beneficial it is. Earlier models seem to have a better response to the wonder bar, 2000 being the line of depreciating gains. I have a 2000 with the wonder bar and its worth the money.

On another note: the front frame tie bar that ties the front "towers" together didn't do anything noticeable to mine. It didn't cost much, just a bar of aluminum and drilling some holes, so no big outlay.
