Brad	I purchased my Kat last October and since than I have had the opportunity to see dozens of Kat's. What I have been noticing is the fact that many of the bumpers are not straight. In fact alot of the Kats I have seen the front bumpers kinda look like eyebrows because they are so poorly adjusted. Also many of the fender's and doors are poorly adjusted too. The gaps between the doors and fenders are in some cases quite noticably gapped wrong. The doors too could use a striker adjustment on a small percentage of Prowlers I have seen. Most of the trunk adjustments seem good and back bumpers appear to be put on Straight also. (The factory could have done a better job in there adjustments.) Adjustments for these problems are under warranty!!!! but in most cases simple hand tools and a little patience will do the trick of getting those Fenders Doors and front bumpers to look SHOW CAR straight..... After all these are our Pride and Joy Auto's BRAD SO-----Take the time and straighten your KAT out!!!!! BRAD////// GOLDRUSH ------------------
ALLEY CAT	Brad - Those of us in Az seem to notice quite afew trunk lids out of adjustment when new. Also, some front side panel fits but that one is very easy to adjust.
CJ	A/C.....during the last production week, Mike, Judy and I went to MSX for a visit. If you could see what it takes to get that decklid to fit properly you would understand. They had one guy that they hired away from a plant to do only that.....deck lid adjustments. If he can't get it right, he would actually get a different decklid and try to get it to fit properly. It doesn't take much to get them out of alignment, either. Improperly closing it will knock it out of alignment. This message has been edited by CJ on 04-08-2002 at 08:06 PM
ALLEY CAT	CJ - I'm well aware of what it takes to align them. CStall and MadMax spent hours realigning theirs'. Mine had a good fit, but many didn't. Maybe that is why DC hired the guy to do the trunk alignments. I still see many out there with wide, uneven gaps along the trunk lines. When I picked up my cat new, the entire pin locking part for the top came unthreaded and fell into the trunk area. I didn't expect perfection, but obviously that was missed on final inspection.
WildCat	There are so many adjustments to these cars they did a good job in my opinion. Once you start to adjust one thing it leads to several others and by the time you get to the end the 1st thing might be out with the last thing....For those that are true perfectionist this could drive you nuts. For us others drive it unless it really is bad. Most bumpers get sat on, you would sag too. I found after installing my hitch I cannot get the bumpers level. I think I will end up removing the hitch and slotting the holes to give some more adjustments to the bumpers. CJ	Yes, Larry, it probably was missed on final inspection, but what about the dealer prep? How come they didn't find it? Let's face it......there is NO perfectly built car. That was another reason I wasn't thrilled with the M&L top. You had to remove the convertible top and the decklid to use it. If you ever wanted to go back to being a convertible, you were going to have to re-install those things and as we know......that wouldn't be easy!
catterumpus	Nothing's perfect, but with some patient adjusting you can get it so close no one would notice. Our 2000 black was just fine except the front of the hood was a quarter inch to the side. lavka	Purplecats ride had the passenger door severely out of alignment when we got the car, such that it squeaked badly and was wearing away on the striker. We had the dealer tweak the hinges to get it hanging straight. Granted the Kat was used but it only had 600 miles on it at the time. My kat seems pretty straight and squeak free. I plan to keep it that way. ------------------
amcmahon	Mine is pretty straight all around except the flares on the sides beneath the doors. There's about a 3/4" gap between that piece and the front piece. =( But it's on both sides so it looks normal =D Curious how some of you close your deck lid(trunk)? I usually push down on the pin holes (mainly cuz I don't want greasy finger prints on the paint and because it's closer to center) from a few inches up to close it. I guess closer to center is ideal. My wife tried to close it once....=( From the side *ouch* slammed it and it made a loud clunk and popped back up. My heart sunk at that moment.
Hollywood	i have the gap and flush measuremnets for 97-99 and probably 2000-up. let me know if anyone wants them. i have the service and diagnostic Procedures manual if anyone needs anything. ------------------ ....and God then said, "Well, we're outta brains. Hmm, let's give 'em some boobs."
JRL	My decklid has always been a little out on the right side. Brought it to the dealer when it was still under warranty, asked them to adjust it, they looked at it and told me that they really didn't want to try it and that it might open a can of worms. I decided to keep the little "flaw" and left it alone for the time being. JRL
Marty Usher	the dealer didn't adjust mine correct either so I UI figuerd I had nothong to lose. I slightly loosened the bolts on the hinge bracket where it is attached at the raer of the storage space and raised on side, loererd the other until the seam was the same when decklid was closed. Then I had to adjust the alignment of the pins that guide the lid into the latches. At least the top comes out of the decklid now when I pull the lever. It use to stick about three out of four tries. CJ	I've always been told to stand centered behind the car and use the chimsel light as a hand-hold to close the decklid.

Daryl	Had to have my decklid realigned. Also, my doors are leaving an abrasion on the bottom edge of the inside of the door jamb but the dealer says there's nothing wrong and that it's just dirth causing the abrasion!
