phillyprowlinI want to get nitrous but someone said the nitrous system does not run well when using the automatic transmission is that true, and if so why is that. I prefer to use the automatic transmission I dont like shifting that auto stick. any help on this matter would be apreciated.

Nitrous is fine for an automatic or stick. My only suggestion is that you set your nitrous system up to come on at 2000RPM's and shut it off with a window switch at 6200RPM's.

This will work well when manually shifting, but if you're going for a 1/4 mile run the best thing to do is leave it in drive and let the computer do the shifting for you!!

PiranaDan, it looks like an awesome system to have. It is exactly what MAC Motorsport is selling. My only question would be the addition of the Maximizer Controller Computer. Is that the unit that controls the on/off at set RPM's. If so, then the whole kit is $955.00 less than at MAC. Thank you for your good research and all your time spent. Victor

You got to remember that Nitrous Warehouse is selling a universal kit for the Prowler. I've installed theirs and had a tough time figuring out where and how to mount the nitrous and fuel solenoids. They provide universal brackets that are adaptable to a many different cars. After some playing around, I found a suitable place.

I did run into a problem with the WOT switch. I could not find a suitable place to mount it and wound up making my own bracket out of a piece of aluminum.

Another thing that needs to be modified is the bottle bracket. The stock bracket needs to be cut down and welded back together to make it fit in the trunk.

I would recommend installing a MSD window switch that will prevent the nitrous from coming on below 2000 RPM's and above 6800 RPM's.

The Maximizer progressive controller is a must if you are going to be running more than a 75hp shot. This box allows you to fine tune the system and has an adjustable delay to turn the nitrous on and a control for how much hp boost you want when the system first turns on and another control for the maximum amount of power. Then there is yet another control that adjust the amount of time it takes for the nitrous to go from minimum hp setting to maximum. It's quite a box and takes some getting used to!

PiranaThank you for your input, Mike. I want to get a nitrous system, still devating who to buy it from. Some savings from Nitrous Warehouse, but some benefits from the MAC set up. Still I see two different opinion over the wet system and the dry system. Hope anyone out there could finally explain what works better. Thank you.

I and a fellow Prowler owner had the Nitrous Express system installed and after looking at the other systems available we went with that systems from Nitrous Warehouse. I am runnign the 150 hp pill and am using the computer which I added to my list of wants. With the computer there it takes away the need to be changing out the jet any time. I am running the computer at a 1 second delay, after floorboarding, and a 4 second ramp-up delay. I then have it set to come on at a 75 hp shot and over those 4 seconds it builds to the full 150 hp shot. You can think of the computer as allowing you to dial in the amount of power from the drivers seat. The heater is the only one with a transducer built in, it comes on and off so that it maintains a constant bottle pressure of 1050 lbs. It may be a "general" tystem but my shop installed it in a day and a half. They have installed the NOS systems but never this system and never in a Prowler. I have pictures of the locations of the items on my South Texas Prowler website located at www.hondos.net/prowler .

The "Juice" is the way to go for me. It sure gives Kitty some claws now.

Mike KrehelWet nitrous, dry nitrous, it all sounds so confusing. I will attempt to clear up the differences.

In a wet system, the nitrous and fuel are injected directly ahead of the throttle body through an atomizing nozzle. This nozzle contains two small metering jets that control the exact amount of nitrous and fuel.

When you go to wide open throttle (foot to the floor), the nitrous and fuel are turned on by solenoid-valves and both are injected through the intake manifold. With this type of system, many people question how even the fuel-nitrous mixture is distributed to all the cylinders, since the rear two cylinders are closer to the throttle body opening.

In a dry system, only the nitrous is injected ahead of the throttle body by a metered jet.

The additional fuel needed to keep the mixture from running to lean is injected by the existing fuel injectors directly into the cylinders. This additional fuel is supplied by a box that is piggy backed to the engine computer. When you go wide open throttle, the nitrous solenoid valve is turned on and the piggy backed box tells the engine computer to supply more fuel via the existing fuel injectors. This setup is said to be safer because an equal amount of fuel is supplied directly to all of the cylinders and cannot puddle up ahead of the throttle body or inside the intake manifold.

Steeper gears. In my almost year long experience with nitrous on my Prowler, I have noticed that the engine falls out of the power band when you're at WOT and the transmission shifts into 4th gear. The engine tends to run too rich and labor to build the RPM's up. This is especially true when trying to use more than a 75hp shot of nitrous. It is my belief that the steeper gears will help this situation!

In summary, go with whatever nitrous system you feel comfortable with and change the rear gearing.

2K BNOS is working hard (this is what I was told by their tech) to have a "dry system" avalilable sooooooonnnnnnn.

I will be checking with them from time to time and post what I know, when I know it. Dean at Prowler Pro has the set up with the "dry", but it ain't cheap.

Mike KrehelThe wet kit is available from Nitrous Warehouse. Go to the homepage and click on their banner ad to see pricing. This kit is for experienced installers, most speed shops should be able to handle it. Fred Henkel and Warren Kolar have had the system installed on their cars.

I've personally installed the Nitrous Warehouse kit on my supercharged car and set it up for a 50hp shot to help get me off the line and then the supercharger takes over after 2500 RPM's. My car ran a 12.84 quarter mile in 103 degree heat. I believe it will do a 12.5 or so on a cooler day (a good excuse to go back to the track).
