i have just bought my 5th set of rears for this summer installation,...and am on my 3rd set of fronts ..ya baby drive it like you stole it ... ------------------ The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche. This message has been edited by CJ on 04-04-2011 at 06:31 PM something about slowing down for corners that I can't seem to get the hang of... rears are getting real thin, fronts still look good have a set that are probably 10 years old with 3,500 miles to go on it, maybe, been inside on a shelf out of the direct light .................. I think they will be OK ------------------ The OE EMT's on the back were worn thin enough to hydraplane when wet and the front's split apart when dismounting them from the wheels. Yes my Kat gets driven in the rain, mostly at POA events. It has 26800 miles on it currently. This message has been edited by alrtg on 04-04-2011 at 04:17 PM Look about the same as the tires on your PT Cruiser, lol. Sandy needs to work more OT, to buy you new tires....padroo It has probably been brought up in the past but do you know how old your tires are? I went on tirerack.com and checked mine. My tires are the originals manufactured in the middle of 1998. If you don't know how old they are it wouldn't hurt to check for peace of mind. Has anyone ever experienced a blowout with these run flats? I would suspect it would be a no event because of the stiff sidewall but you don't want to be far from home if one goes flat.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11& fibertop originals on my kat. prowlrman Originals on my 2001 Black Tie Dave Mills fronts = 9 years old. Rears = 5 years old. xtreme prowler 5th set of rears and 3rd of fronts.... lionberger Original to my '97. There is a new set in the garage but not on the Cat. ETMIDZT Changing them out soon. Been on my 99 since 98. attyedhall ORIGINALS ON MY 99 AS WELL. I LOST ONE TIRE LAST YEAR AT A PROWLER EVENT IN TENNESSEE. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT 40 MILES TO A TIRE SHOP TO GET ANOTHER. ITS PROBABLY TIME TO REPLACE THEM ALL, BUT WITH ONLY 18K MILES ON THEM, MY CHEAPO INSTINCT ARE IN CONFLICT WITH WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT AGING, BUT STILL RELEATIVELY UNUSED TIRES. ALLEY CAT I have 36K on my rear tires, and they are thin on tread and need replacing. Fronts still look very good. I'm with Ed,,,,if they look good and aren't exposed to direct sun all of the time, they should be good to run until worn out. IMO, there is too much hype on replacing tires by age. 5th set of rears and 3rd of fronts....CJ Okay, I was mistaken...I have originals on my 1999 Black and the Kid Cat. The Candy Cat's were replaced, but the tread was not worn down to the nub!!!!
CJ - The One and Only
1999 Black - PPROWLR
2002 Deep Candy Red - CJPROWLN
2002 Black California Kid Prowler - CAL KIDpadroo Mine still look like new with less than 7,000 miles on them. It looks like they hold up pretty well over time. I had an old tire on my van come apart on vacation in Florida one year. It looked like one of those old semi tires you see laying around all over the roads in the Summer. What was left on the rim looked like a rag. xtreme prowler quote:

Larry & Sue Mayesalrtg Fronts and rears all replaced in June of 2010 with Goodyear EMT's that have a mfg date about two years prior to that. So that makes my tires about three years old. quincy I have the original EMT's installed in 1999. Good tread (19K miles) but the rubber is getting quite hard and it's difficult to maintain a good grip on the road. JeraneW 20,000 miles and still on originals, 2001 model. ed monahan Posting these for Jim Sutton ALLEY CAT jimsutton Those tires had less than 30.000 miles on them they looked good .. It happened on two of my cars and different brands of tires 6yrs old .. really could mess up a prowler...Don't take chances with old tires . Steve Conley Brand New Pirelli Scorpion Verde 295/45/20 "RUNFLAT" rear & Pirelli P Nero 225/45/17 "RUNFLAT" front. Only had to grind the frame a little bit on one side to make the rear 45's fit?? But Boy does it ride smother. ed monahan Sasquatch, I don't have a PT any longer. Sandy has the Dr. Scholl edition that we bought last July or August.
I have the pick up and motor cycle and a company car in the winter. I just got rid of it Friday. I get new tires off of repoes when I need them. They aren't always the correct size but they have tread. lol
