FatManInTheBathTubHey now................

jd2ksilverHope you kept all the nuts and bolts.

------------------

FatManInTheBathTubSo no one else is interested in getting their heads extrude honed??? With 2 more sets, they give a break in price.......What about you Mike K.??? Gary C.??? or are ya'll doing the buddy thing???

butchceeHow about Johnny Tribble? He was looking for someone to do that deal.

FatManInTheBathTubHey now, I don't think JT is really into racing. He did talk about it. He's on hold for now. I am going forward with my heads. The stock pistons weigh a ton so I am also designing pistons which I might sell a few sets if anybody wants a some. I doubt it but you never know....................they will be several hundred grams lighter and slightly lower compression ratio. I also have a company that is going to work my crank. All this with some light rods will lighten the rotating mass hence more rpm.......................

butchceeHow long for the pistons and how much? Who's the company for manufacture? I will be getting my system on soon as the parts are almost rounded up. An afterthought-I wont be doing the crank as my HP goals will be lower then yours, but MIGHT be interested in a set of pistons the same weight as the stockers with a point or point and a half lower comp. You might give Henry Velasco at Velasco's Cranks a call for the crank. Mention my name and MAYBE he can help you out.

FatManInTheBathTubHey now Al, not sure on the time to make them, like 4 weeks I think he said. The company is Wisco and price will be about $85 a slug. I am haveing them made with thick tops as I am s/c and N20. Now have to decide.........to O-ring the block or not???? Doesn't look like there is enough room.......whats a FatMan to do????

This message has been edited by FatManInTheBathTub on 04-27-2001 at 08:20 AM

butchceefatman-check my re-edited post. Can you o-ring the heads?

------------------

Yellow is DCOOLEST

FatManInTheBathTubHey now Al, I don't think so. "They" always do the block. The stock head gaskets are really quit good. Steel with gasket squshie stuff on them. I'm just trying to prepair for the worst....................
Todd CameronJerry, don't forget to do the obvious... make sure each piston weights exactly the same on a gram scale and drag each piston out of it's chamber with another hand held gram scale making sure each piston has the same exact ring drag. This helps dramatically in performance.

Todd Cameronoh... one other thing... carbon build up clogs injectors and slows motors.... run a few splashs of Marvel Mystery Oil in each tank of gas and a couple in each oil change and that will solve that carbon buildup you have and get rid of the grunge in the motor problem.

butchceeTodd, piston weight is SOP. Never heard of the piston drag stuff! I always just maintained the same piston to wall clearance and specified ring end gap. Maybe you been working on the vintage Harleys too much with tolerences + or - 1/4 inch!!!

CJFatman....it sounds like you've got some great traditional hot rodding ideas for your engine!! Each of them should enhance the performance and allow the engine to rev more quickly. But I was curious.......how are you going to override the pre-set rev limiter in the engine controller?
Wasn't it designed to limit the rpms?

FatManInTheBathTubHey now CJ, this is where you and rpl come in to save the day. Or am I gonna have to hire a hacker to fix the puter????
butchceeSoCal Speed Shop did some work in conjunction with DC to raise the limit of the puter to 6800 or so. They worked on the 300M. Look on Dan P's links to get hooked up with them.
The stock limit is pretty good to me so I wont try to bump it up-just want more where it's at. Like Larry says "shudda had a V8 "

CJAl......call SoCal Speed Shop and ask them where they got the 300M and who their friend is! LOL!

Fatman.......technically, it's illegal to modify the engine controller because of it's impact on regulated emissions. LOL!

butchceeGuess that's yours HUH?

FatManInTheBathTubHey now, lets don't talk technically, lets talk "Worlds Fastest Prowler".............as far as emissions, we just don't have them here in Flagler County. This is how I see it. I bought a prowler so I now own it. I can't believe that Chrysler would not want one of their cars to be known for its high performance. It is just plain awsome to have a 6 cyl. that can run with the V8's. They have kind of been out of the drag racing for too long............I want to help put them back into the poop of things. Its also wrong for Chrysler to holdout on this info. Its not like want to hack their box for personal gain, unless the gain is HP or Torque..............What I would really like to do is buy a second computer for my second motor. Do you think that Chrysler would program a "second" box for me to my spec's or at least give me the info I need to get this done???? If not, I will buy a one and find someone to do the dirty deed. It won't look good on Chrysler if I have to go with a hacker..............help please!!!
Todd CameronAl.. it is actually an old Indian motorcycle racer trick... got it from one o the top California racers from back in the 40's... don't know if any of the Harley boys ever figured it out or not.

CJFBITBT.......Sorry, DC uses a different formula than most vehicles. They use speed density, rather than mass air flow to monitor engine performance. The computers do not have removable chips and, so far, no one has been successful in re-programming one.

DC has fielded numerous requests for a performance computer, but at the present time, have no plans for one.

The Federal government is very strict regarding Federal emissions compliance and DC will not jeopardize that confidence.

I wish that I had a better response for you, but have to fall back on the corporate line. Personally, I see you doing all of the right things to extract the last bit of power from the engines.

jd2ksilverI'd leave the rev limiter where it is, work with what they give you. More than one way to skin a Kat,

Work on getting to redline ASAP, and gear it accordingly.

My two cents.

------------------

FatManInTheBathTubHey now, another saying is "If there is a will there is a way". Here are the three things I want changed in my programing: 1. Rev limiter up to 7500 rpm. 2. Stronger spring and diaphragm for my fuel regulator. 3. Air/Fuel ratio to target 12/1. Must I leave this up to a hacker????
