CTProwlerI tried putting on the DEKLID Protector today!!! I had a friend help. Forget it, after about 10 minutes i just crumpled it up and threw it away...Very thin light weight. I forgot how much i paid, but not my thing!!!

Sorry you ran into problems. My installation went virtually flawlessly and I'm reall happy with the product.

Are you thinking of giving another a try or chucking the whole idea?

"Washed, waxed and in the bag!"

Gary CVery easy, both surfaces need to be wet, Windex works good, carefully squeegee the extra fluid out and then wait a day for it to be completely dry,,,,,,,,
KatAddictGary C is correct, make it wet, that is the only way I could get the flames on my Kat with success!
ALLEY CATChuck - since Dan Garcia beat me out on those engine braces you are giving him,,,,,,dig out the crumpled deck lid protector and mail it to him Extra weight to make the postage higher

Give it another try on the protector,,,,,it works great after you get it on.

PaulCTProwler, sorry to hear you had such problems with the DekProTec. There's a caution in the first paragraph of the instructions regarding outside temperatures because the ambient temperature and deck temp need to be 65 degrees or higher before applying. I see that parts of Connecticut expected temp was about 18 degrees, so I hope that you didn't have to work outside. If you did, it would have been way too cold for it to stick correctly or for you to smooth out wrinkles.

The DekProTec seems to work for nearly everyone who's tried it. We shipped over 20 DekProTecs since April and had only one complaint and that was from a guy who tried applying it without the instructions!

P. S. CTProwler was applying a chrome DekProTec which is about 30% thinner than the standard. The chrome DekProTec uses a vinyl substrate and a metal foil overlay. It has to be thinner for it to be applied without damaging the chrome foil. DekProTec is 3M product and their reputation in vinyl products is solid.

whealyChuck,

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. Maybe there's someone around there that could install it. I think someone mentioned a tinting shop putting theirs on. Took me two tries, but doesn't sound like the same frustration you went through. You bringing you cat to Indy for the 500? I'm pretty sure you're not, but I'd be happy to lend a hand and a place to wash it if you do.

------------------

CTProwlerI had Heater on in garage, i was sweating. Wasn't the heat! The problem was lining up the two holes for the top. Also hard to apply with prowler logo in the middle. Chrome one is very thin. Didn't use enough water, kept drying up!!!LOL I also think the chrome with the Chrome Headrest covers was a little much for me. Maybe i'll try the Black?? I really am a big guy and don't plan on taking the Kat out much with the top up. It will be down 90% of the time. Not blaming the product, it was my fault.

Marty UsherChuck - I screwed up a chrome one also by rushing it and not using enough solution. I also decided the chrome was a bit too much on my black kat and re ordered a black one. I took my time and used LOTS of solution and it went fine the second time.

Hum ... wonder if those two are related .

Chuck - same setup here. The cat logo on chrome. The logo took some extra effort as well. Personally I like the chome contrast with the Blue. Maybe a chome rollbar yet too ...
