Tate DanielsI have had my Cat for four months and it finally had to happen, I ran into a curb a few days ago and scratched up the front nose. The panel is not hurt but it flexed and cracked the paint on the lower edge. My body shop man suggested I take off the nose piece to do the repair, it would be easier to do plus no over spray on the car. My question is how hard is it to remove and is there any thing available to keep this from happening again. Thanks in advance for your help.
CTProwlerI would just have him put it on a lift and touch it up. i scratched my Candy and just buffed it out. No cracks though. All depends on you, you don't notice my scratches unless your underneath.

------------------

Black Tie 161Don't bother touching it up...you'll scrape it again someday....LOL....In other words...join the club!!

To prevent scraping the nose, I do 2 things..

Back into spots whenever I can. backing up into a spot is easy if you use your side view mirror to line up your car into the spot. I avaid backing up too much by sighting my back corner of the door to line up with the curb. When the two points meet, I'm good.

the other is to line up your side view mirror with the curb when pulling in nose first. Get the car parked perfect to a curb, then take note of how your side view mirror lines up to the curb when viewed from the driver's seat. Now you have a permanent reference point..... knowing that once your side mirror lines up to the curb as you pull up, you don't need to pull up any more.

CatwatchingDrive with a prowler car bra on.

I had one on and ran my front on top of 2 curbs with not a single scratch.

now I back in !!!!!!!!!

dpenaDepending on how far up the damage was, you can forget about painting it and use Herculiner Brush-on Bed Liner .

I damaged my paint on the nose and brushed this stuff on and it acts as a seal and it will take a good hit before you nick this stuff off. I have hit my nose while parking a few times after this stuff went on and it worked great.

It goes on black and hardenes.

All you need is a paint brush and some masking tape to outline the area that will get this stuff and keep it from going into the main body paint.

This stuff should have an Alley Cat Seal of Approval.

I will see if I can take some pics of my nose so you can see what I mean.

Later...

JRLI think most of us dinged the nose at least once, perhaps you hit it a bit harder.
I taped a straight line around the nose masked it off and spray bombed it black.
It's really not noticable at all to anyone except perhaps a Kat owner, and if you don't get down on you hands and knees even they won't notice it.
If you do it again just touch it up with black again, this makes it very convenient.
The tuff bed liner stuff is a good idea and will accomplish the same thing with perhaps a much tougher nose to scratch if it happens again.
My way is the cheap way. (Have listened to Alley Kat over the years)
JRL
ed monahanAre scrapes unacceptable but black paint and bedliner are okay? I don't follow the reasoning, to be honest. If the scrapes don't show, why cover them with something that is more noticable?
JRLYou do the black way under the line. It's neat and, as I said, you don't really see it but it covers the scratches so YOU won't have the feeling of something amiss.

Blue BulletWhy not just mask it off and spay it with spray touch up paint from D/C? That way it's the same color!

Didn't another post report that matching prowler spray paint is no longer available?

I have a Mulholland and just bought from the dealer (he had to order it) BOTH the brush-on and the SPRAY!

I would consider the following to be the authoritative final answer:

UPDATE! I received a message from my contact at Mopar. It states that he did some investigating and there is no more of the Spray Cans and due to low sales, there will not be anymore.

PROWLER SPRAY PAINT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM CHRYSLER.

Then I guess I better not go pick up the can of spray touch-up paint for my Mulholland that ordered I about a week ago and the dealer called me Friday and said was in.

I don't know who your authoritative contact is but I have ordered and recieved a tube of brush on about a week ago, and there is now a can of spray waiting at DeMontrond Chrysler that I ordered last Monday. NO PROBLEM!

I have a Mulholland and I can state without a doubt that touch up paint, BOTH brush-on and spray ARE AVAILABLE FROM CHRYSLER at least for my color. There may be certain colors that are no longer available. But touch up paint IS available for SOME COLORS!

PS. For those who don't believe it you can call DeMontrond at 936-539-3181

The authoritative source is CJ. Her entire post follows:

As far as Touch Up paint in the tubes, there will be more available in about a month (maybe less) and I will update you when he lets me know that it is available.

I tend to believe her, and wouldn't count on getting prowler spray paint from Chrysler in the future.

Hey Growl, I can only assume that Chrysler has numerous parts distribution wharehouses located around the US. While I don't dispute Chrysler won't be manufacturing anymore, I do however suspect there is an existing inventory of some colors on hand in some of these wharehouses. Depending on what color and the distribution site your local dealer has to go through may determine its' availability in your particular local.

What color are you trying to get? I am going to pick up a can of Mulhaolland Blue spray this morning on my way to work.I know it is available because I ordered it and they called me and said it was in!

As I stated in my previous post, if you can't find it in your area try a dealer in a different area. Give DeMontrond a call. Their numnber is 936-539-3181. Maybe you wuill get lucky!

Good Luck,
Ed

I think we're actually saying the same thing. Although Chrysler is not making it anymore, and doesn't report any in stock, the last pieces seem to be rippling their way out of the supply system.

Thanks for the offer, but I still have a half-can left from a grill that I reconditioned for the "Alley Cat chrome treatment". It worked well, I'm I'm disappointed that it won't be available any longer.

I know that around here the dealers have a network and pull off of each others inventory for next-day delivery and then replace it from Chrysler. If your area is the same, that could account for the "order".

The point that I was actually trying to make is, "IF YOU SEE PROWLER SPRAY PAINT IN YOUR COLOR, OR CAN GET IT LOCALLY, GRAB IT - THERE WON'T BE ANY MORE IN THE FUTURE".

I picked up a can of Midnight Blue " Mulholland Edition" spray paint today. The dealer ordered it out of Chrysler stock from the Dallas Distribution Center in Arlington, TX.

I asked him about other colors and he said he believed they were ALL available. He said if anyone needs it to give him a call at Demontrond Chrysler. His name is Wayne Wagner in the parts department. The phone number is 936-539-3181.

I hope this helps,
Ed
