garysss | I had to replace the battery in the 2010 Challenge today. It was the original battery, 13 years, not to bad. I got it at Costco $166. I guess the Camaro will be next, made on 11/09/09, 13 years and counting. No battery tender on either one. Just a note, both batteries are in the trunk away from engine heat, I'm sure that helped. padroo | I had to replace the battery in my 2006 Dodge Dakota last year. The truck just turned over 10,000 miles last summer. I have never used a battery tender on it. |
garysss | The Challenger has 67306 miles, Camaro 6479 miles. |

Put new battery in my 2018 Ram truck last month just under 17,000 , kept on tender most of the time as it sits for very long periods Probably putting new battery in Prowler this year too. Don’t remember when it was changed last. Will have owned 25 year this summer ------------------ Larry Mayes |
Landscape Doctor | That's crazy gentlemen,,,, I've never gotten that many years out of a battery. |
jwallis | Carols 2012 Challenger with 63000 miles on it still has the original battery |

I usually get 8-14 years out of all my batteries. Last year I replaced the one in Nissan, when I took the core in, the date sticker was 12/10. The guy at Costco counter asked if I had the battery laying around in the garage. I said no, I just took it out of the car. He said buts it's 12 years old, I said, are you trying to tell me I won't get that out of the new battery. He said, well there is a reason it only has a 3 year warranty. I asked if he gets a lot back under warranty, he said 5-6 a day. I hope it lasts at least 7-8. This message has been edited by garysss on 03-28-2023 at 08:10 PM |
WildCat | On modern computer controlled car the battery might start the vehicle but might not be strong enough for the electronics Had a 93 Grand Caravan started fine. Kept loosing radio station presets & at night with lights on and try to accelerate it would miss out. Took to a shop & knew owner fairly well & he ask how old was battery, said it started fine, he said change battery. Went & got new battery & all good I don’t like to let new computer controlled vehicle have a questionable battery ------------------ Larry Mayes |

LD, I'm with you. I've never even come remotely close to that, even with a battery tender. Three to four years, five max. Down here the heat is a killer to batteries.

ed monahan | How many years do you get out of pace maker batteries. Asking for a friend. |
Landscape Doctor | As of 3-28-23 I do not have a pacemaker so I can not give you a answer to that question. Maybe AC's friend has the answer. To many damn friends asking questions!!!! quote: Originally posted by ed monahan: How many years do you get out of pace maker batteries. Asking for a friend.

Landscape Doctor | My 95 Ford 450 7.3 powerstroke is a battery killer,,, 2 years max. |
Stray Cat | My 2000 Prowler has 2008 Optima Red Top in it. On Battery Tender it's entire life. Agree with Larry, some vehicles drain these things and drain them quite a bit. My 2005 Viper is a great example. If the car is sitting for longer than 2 weeks, they recommend putting it into "winter Mode". Crazy procedure that includes Locking the doors etc. I just keep a tender on it. 2009 BMW 528 drains the battery quickly. So Larry is right, some of these vehicles MUST be on a tender if you do not drive them. Gary, what Camaro do you own ? Year, Model ? 2024 is the last year for production. John |
garysss | I have a 2010 Camaro SS/RS 6 speed, Yellow/Black stripes, bought new 02/05/10. The new ones are nice! |
alrtg | Years ago I always bought the Sears Die Hard Gold batteries and had good luck with them. I got 14 years out of one of them in my daily driver. More recently I have been going to my local Interstate Battery Dealer's warehouse and buying "Blem's" for under $50.00 but have not needed one in a few years now. |

Gary, the next addition to the fleet will hopefully be a 2010 or 11 synergy green Camaro SS with the black stripe. I just haven’t found the one I wanted yet. |

Agree, even on battery tenders, I have three down right now. The high heat just wipes them out. Hopefully since everything is now inside the one garage, that may help mitigate that. |
ed monahan | I thought the battery in the '14 Challenger was dead. Turned out to be the Fob battery was dead. That was a few years ago when we came home in the Spring. |

Tom, this is one of the few I bought new. I like the synergy green also, it came out after I bought mine. If I see one that looks good, I will let you know. There is one for you out there, you just have to find it. Just saying, I still a little jealous your garage is bigger then mind. ed monahan | My first thought, also. |
garysss | The listing says seller acquired car in 2015. I think the dealer titled it in 2011, this owner bought it in 2015, moved to New location in Ohio in 2020 and re titled possibly. Then titled again same owner in N.C. 2022. |
