twilson88 | I took the Subwoofer to my local car sound shop and they tell me it is designed for the car and can not just be replaced with out changing everything, is this true? all I want to do is change the Subwoofer I don’t want to buy or make brackets or do any custom work all I want to do is pull out the stock and replace with a better one, and is the possible?

KatAddict | I took my sub box apart. 3 screws. Did not measure the speaker but it looks like something that had been store bought. It is a dual coil sub speaker. ------------------

Audio | Yes you can. It is a 6.5 in. dual voice coil. The sub is not of the highest quality, but....replacing it with another is hit or miss. The bandpass enclosure that was designed for the factory sub is specific to the subs specs. A better sub will not always improve the sound. The enclosure is what produces the sound, not so much the sub. Plus most aftermarket subs are going to be less efficient and require more power. Using the stock amplifier, you may even lose volume. |
