SPADA-1HELLO EVERYONE-
It's been a while since my last post; Hope everyone is well. With the warmer weather approaching, I'm getting the itch to upgrade my STOCK rotors to DRILLED one's. I did a little research and contacted BREMBO and also WILWOOD Both companies do not produce a product for the "AWESOME PROWLER" I know there's 1000's of MA' AND PA' companies that will take a STOCK BLANK and CNC machine one, and drill some holes. But this is NOT SAFE and will only warp or crack...
SO I'm back to square one. Where can we get a QUALITY drilled, Zinc platted Rotor??????

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

SPADA-1

GRROWLI bought a couple of Brembo standard rotors from Tirerack, but I don't see performance ones from them.

I do see these, and would think it's a misprint, but here's a pair of slotted EBC performance rotors for $19 PER PAIR.

???

halicatI just ordered a set from rotorpros...
i'm hoping they will be here friday so I can put them on this weekend...

I'll post my findings later..

Heres the ebay link

mcrealtyOBI-1 has or had a performance set calipers and rotors. I bought mine from him years ago and have loved them ever since.

Scot SternJust a thought.

I too was very excited about the concept of using drilled rotors on my Delorean. The stock rotors have a bad habit of warping on that car and I was told by the experts that the holes would help with heat dissipation.

The Facts:

The car is now much noisier as now you hear the air going through the holes in rotors even without applying the brakes. When you apply the brakes, they are even noisier than when you are just moving.

The rotors warped even faster than the stock rotors. I was shocked to see this happen. Warped rotors make the car pull when you apply the brakes and overall it is not a good thing.

Now, I know that you are saying. He is driving it really hard! Actually, I have less than 300 miles on the car in the last two years and I never drive it hard. The rotors warped from using them to simply slow down getting off of the local freeway.

All-in-all, this was probably the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. The car is way too noisy, the rotors warped even faster and the overall braking seems less effective than before the drilling.

Slotted, holed rotors that are designed by the OEM for car have had some engineering and they may make sense but I would say keep you money and spend it elsewhere.

The Old Man

halicatI hope my new ones don't warp, otherwise i will put the stock ones back on...

as far as the noise...
i'm thinking that the Borla, and the Crue blasting on the stereo will elliminate rotor noise...

I just finished painting the calipers silver and Sandblasted and painted the inner barrels on the wheels...

Its all good..

GRROWLI can't pass up a bargain - just ordered a pair for a total cost of $30.90 including one-day estimateddelivery. The black should look nice.

keesI've installed RotorPro's (Zinc Plated) rotors and uptil now
no problems and no excessive sounds. Kept the originals just in
case. Did install the Raybestos Ceramic Brake Pads at the
same time. The Rotorpro's can be found on e-bay for appr. 129US$.

Kees

thomas leuschnerI just ordered the EBC Dimpled & Slotted rotors at $112.00. and no shipping cost.
I sure wish I saw this post on last Friday.
Goes to show you, good things come to those who wait.
I have seen the EBC rotors in person and they look very nice.
Tom
jkburnsStupid question:

Will these fit on my 2002? I assume they will.

Heck for this price it may be worth a look-see.

Thanks,

Kevin

What? That must have been a bad set or something as I have had them on everything from Porsches to Ferrari's with no pulling, no noise, and no warping. In fact, first Porsche I ever bought (930 turbo) while doing 95 mph, the salesman raised both arms off the steering wheel and slammed on the brakes to show me how true it tracked. After almost loosing my cookies, I was hooked.

I believe the are standard on all their models with both.

They do dissipate heat faster............

thomas leuschnerMy new EBC rotors just showed up. They are very nice looking.
It comes with a tag stating,"During the first few hundred miles of driving some noise may be noticed as the pads and rotors bed down. This noise will reduce steadily, and around a 1000 miles will be minimal.
By virtue of the way this product works sport rotors with slots will always make make some noise and this is not cause for concern and not a safety issue nor covered by any warranty".

jkburns yes they will fit your Kat. $112.00 at the brake warehouse.

Contact grrowl looks like he got the way better deal. I wish I saw them for that price.

obi-wanI make a complete set of front brakes just for Prowlers. They are based on Wilwood components. I supply this complete kit that bolts on very easly with no changes to the car for 1750.oo I also have the s.s.flex lines as a bolt on kit without any cores to exchange for 250.oo if ordered with the brake kit(275.oo seperately ordered). They have professionally polished s.s. fittings on both ends as well as the banjo bolt. Thereis a direct fit adt. with a custom tab so the line directly fits into the cars brake systeem. These are in stock now and ready for shipment. I am making 6 sets of the front brakes now of which 2 are already sold. They should be ready by the end of this month or the very begining of April. They are shown in my catalog. If you want one of the catalogs call me. I need to have several pieces of info. about you and your car for my data base. My catalog is 9 pages long now but more pages will be sent out when they are ready in the future. Call me and leave a message if I'm not here and I'll call you back a.s.a.p.
650-967-3609. I hope I've helped, Obi-Wan
ed monahanThose $ 19 rotors are black, if that matters to you.
thomas leuschnerED.
These are black also. I ordered them Friday and they arrived today.

It says to break them in with new pads. That hurt because I only have 800 miles on my ceramics.
