Tulsa, OK- April 26th, 2007- Legendary Hot Rod builder Boyd Coddington, host of TLC's hit TV series AMERICAN HOT ROD, and members of his crew will be in Tulsa Friday, June 15th and Saturday, June 16th to participate in Tulsarama 2007- three days of exciting events surrounding the unearthing of a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, buried in a time capsule 50 years ago and being unearthed as a part of Oklahoma's Centennial celebration. "We are thrilled to have an automotive icon like Boyd involved with our event," said Tulsarama co-chair Sharon King Davis. "His excitement and willingness to be involved with this event is tremendous. He has definitely caught the Miss Belvedere fever!" In addition to his other activities while in Tulsa, Boyd Coddington will also have two hot rods from his personal collection in the open car show on June 16th. "When we heard about this once-in-a-lifetime event, we immediately wanted to be involved in some way," said Boyd Coddington. "As a life-long car guy, there is nowhere else I would rather be on that weekend than Tulsa, Oklahoma." History of the Buried Car In 1957, citizens of Tulsa were asked to guess what the population of Tulsa would be in the year 2007. The entries were sealed and buried inside the vault with the Belvedere. When the car and artifacts are excavated, the person whose guess is closest to Tulsa's 2007 population or their closest identifiable heir will be awarded the Belvedere. Among other items buried with the car, the contents of a women's purse, including bobby pins, a bottle of tranquilizers, cigarettes and an unpaid parking ticket, were added to the glove compartment of the car shortly before burial.
