Daryl Noticed a shake in the steering wheel after I had the ball joing recall completed. Finally took it into the dealer to get looked at and was told BOTH of my front rims were bent. Seems odd that I only noticed it after the ball joint recall was done (only put about 10 miles on it on the way home and didn't drive it again.) Now I can't help but to wonder if the tech took it for a drive and somehow bent the rims. Has anyone had any luck getting bent rims fixed under the extended warranty? Or do I have to suck it up and pay?

Sounds like some grovelling for the goodwill of the dealer is in order since the language of the contract excludes it.
BTW, our wheels are cast aluminum rather than forged. Cast wheels bend easier than forged. That MIGHT give you some flexibility with the dealer (I, too, had two bent wheels - no problem under 3/36 warranty).

cnote6 The HARD side walls with the run flats don't help. I get Corvettes in all the time.

TriJim Daryl -- Not sure I buy it. How did both front rims get bent? Did they drop the car from a lift or run straight into a curb? I'd think most "accidents" that bend both rims would leave flat tires or at least marks on the sidewalls.
I'd let another dealer check the ball joints and/or confirm the rim damage. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Kepple's Kruizer Kandace bent the left front rim on Ms. Kitty a couple of years ago, she hit a "city - Ti@@y" in a turn lane as she came to a stop. She was only going maybe 5mph when she hit it, but it bent a perfect semi circle in it. The tire was fine but had to get new rim and alignment. We claimed it on our insurance under our 250 deductible, total bill was almost 800 plus a 120 flat bed tow truck fee(which was reimburshed by the insurance company). We were only out our deductible, lucky for her!
Daryl The rims are definitely bent, the tech showed me them while he had the car on the lift. The passenger side bend can be seen while just looking at the inside of the rim. The driver side must be spun and then you can see a wobble on the inside of the rim. The tires are fine and so is the alignment. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, we have very bad roads here. I'm hoping that 6000 miles of Pittsburgh roads did it and not the dealer, but I guess we'll never know. Like Kruizer, I filed a claim with the insurance company, $250 deductible, $700 for each rim from the dealer!
ship I bent a wheel about two months ago. Found a replacement wheel in Florida for $300. Took my wheel to Columbus, Ohio to Wheel Medic, and they straightened the one I bent for $90. They told me that forged aluminum wheels have a memory and showed me how much they got it corrected.
I was amazed. It was at least 95% back and definately usable. Well worth the $.

I hope they're right. My three printed references all say they are cast aluminum, not forged. Per 2000 Prowler Service Manual:
"The road wheels used on this vehicle are a cast aluminum full face modular 2 piece wheel".
Assuming they are cast, especially given their size, this could easily account for the reports of bent wheels.

Dave Mills Daryl: I took my bent rim to Wheel Collision Service and had it straightened and refinished (since my rims are silver) for $210.00. They would have done it while I waited, but I was on my way to a train show and I didn't want to wait. They will ship back to me on Monday.
