HunnicuttzI was back up my kat and had the wheel turned slightly and I caught the mudflap on the tire and now my right front fender is bent and the mudflap is now touching the ground. Anyone know a fix for this?

I have taken the wheel off and it doesn't look like the bracket or the rods holding the fender up are bent at all. I am thinking that it just needs adjusting where the painted fender bolts to the bracket. There are bolts holding it on but I do not see how to get them out. Are you not able to remove these?

NRVOUSI believe the fender is rivited to the brackets so you would have to drill out the rivets to separate the two.

catfishthe brkt is BENT.it can be str.take to a reputable b/s.have them tie it down on the rack or floor.attach a strap to the very frt of the bkt,and pull it straight forward to where its realigned.do not remove the fdr from the brkt, straighten it the way it is,this is the correct and only way to get the fdr back to where it belongs, shouldnt cost more than a 100.00 to fix it.let me know what happens.a new fdr if available 800.00 w/o paint.a good bodyman can easily fix it,you will notice i said good.again do not drill out the rivets.they are special huck rivts and nobody has the tool which costs more than the fdr, to install them, any questions pm me.

xtreme prowlerthe bracket is clamped between two pieces that are held on by 3 ( maybe 4) bolts... there is a set screw to also tighten it down, not sure if this will adjust the back and forth of the bracket but definately adjust the the side to side... good luck..
catfishthere is no adjusting the fdr,it needs to be pulled back to where it was and doing a pull on it is the only way to save it, or buy a new one.the only adjustment is back to frt,and that wont solve your problem.

Thank you! I will take it to a body shop on Monday and see what they can do.

Was thinking that Ed Monahan has a guy that repairs them

jimsuttonThere is a Guy in Ocala,Fl. that can fix it and has repaired Front fender braces on Prowlers with the same problem before .. If You are interested let me know .. Jim Sutton Ocala,Fl...

I'm in NW FL near Pensacola so i'm pretty far away from Ocala. But thanks anyway!!!

ed monahanDick Linneman (center cap repair guy) can fix the bracket if you take it off the fender. I took mine off to get chromed and bought chrome nuts and bolts to replace the huck rivets.
It is the bracket that is bent, not the fender. If you feel under the top part of the bracket about 3 or four inches from the fender, at the first curve, you will feel the paint probably is peeled on the bracket.

Hmmm... I like chrome lol

RichODarn (or worse), something similar to me happened but I didn't think I did any damage, but after seeing the post I did. Was rolling the frt up onto ramps and one slipped forward w/o me knowing. So I over-rolled the right and ramp tipped up knocking mud guard off with bracket. Thought that the bracket absorbed all force (came off had to epoxy it back). Now I see that the space between the back fender strut has been pushed toward the rim so there's just about 1/4 inch clearance. The other non damaged side has about 1/2+. Not noticeable except to Kat owners and can drive it hoping that I don't have a situation where the rim and strut come in contact. Should I be taking this risk -- thoughts please? Catfish, your info was very helpful, wouldn't have known about this w/o your input. Thnx

ed monahanThe fender will rotate toward the car/away from the car. There is a clam shell clamp with four bolts holding the bracket and 3 bolts holding the clam shell on. If you loosen the four bolts you can rotate the fender but not forward and backward. You can actually slide it slightly frontwards or backwards if it isn't tack welded in place. I have seen them both ways, with and without the tack weld. Stand in front of the car and see if the fender is the same distance from the tire on both sides of each fender.
I have posted pictures of the clam shell clamp several times. I will look for it and post a pic.
catfishyou can fix the fdr as i describbed,or you can cut off the rivets and have a real fiiiing mess.

There are the FOUR holes marked with the white dots

There are the THREE bolts holding the clam shell on

I will take some pictures of my car tomorrow so you can see what a "mess" it is. Everyone who had their front end chromed had to disassemble the fenders. Not a big deal at all.
Catfish can you post a CURRENT picture of your car so everyone can see how perfect it is at this time. I will post pics of both of mine for easy comparison.

catfishadjusting the fdr will not solve the twisted brkt problem.

ed monahanRead RichO's post. His fender may be off 1/4 inch with the back of the fender slightly closer to the wheel than the other fender. That may be like that from the factory.
It is possible he bent the bracket but he is saying the mud flap hit DOWN on the ramp, it did not get pinched and rotated like most of them do. I can't see the fender or his car so I don't know that for a fact, but it is not necessarily a bent bracket.
MDProwlerThat happened to me many years ago before I learned not to back up on rough surf, aces.

I removed the whee, placed a jack stand under the back bracket and lowered the car to bend it in the reverse direction. It took about 30 minutes to correct.

Just be careful when lowering the jack as to not go too far.
